Sanctuary cities are a loose name for states or localities that have regulations which can act as an obstacle for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to hunt down migrants they think they can deport.
So of course Trump has tried to penalise those areas.
How? By threatening to withhold federal funding from them.
The Mechanism For Funding Hbcus Has Very Little To Do With Trump
Trump has also repeatedly mentioned how his administration has funded historically Black colleges and universities . They couldnt get funded. Nobody was funding them for years and years and decades, nobody was funding them, Trump said.
This is simply untrue: Under Obama, the federal government invested more than $4 billion in HBCUs over seven years.
And while federal funding for HBCUs has been renewed under Trumps presidency, Trump has not publicly acknowledged that the renewal is the result of congressional appropriations.
Congress does all this work and presents it to him in the budget, and he can choose to sign it. This year, he held off on signing some significant STEM funding, making HBCUs beg for it, Rutgers professor and leading HBCU authority Marybeth Gasman told the Washington Post. Trump has promised all kinds of things to HBCUs and has followed through on little. Under Trump, the White House Initiative for HBCUs was moved to the White House and is quite quiet compared to the work under President Obamas administration.

White Nationalists And Charlottesville Rally
On August 13, 2017, Trump condemned violence “on many sides” after a gathering of hundreds of white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia, the previous day turned deadly. A white supremacist drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one woman and injuring 19 others. According to Sessions, that action met the definition of domestic terrorism. During the rally there had been other violence, as some counter-protesters charged at the white nationalists with swinging clubs and mace, throwing bottles, rocks, and paint. Trump did not expressly mention Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, or the alt-right movement in his remarks on August 13, but the following day condemned “the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups“. On August 15, he again blamed “both sides”.

Trump Is Making A Last
In 2016, Trump won just 8 percent of Black voters. The same holds true in 2020 his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, leads Trump with Black voters, 83 percent to 8 percent, a 75-point margin, according to CNN. However, Trumps support among Black voters ages 18 to 44 has jumped from 10 percent in 2016 to 21 percent this year, according to FiveThirtyEight, while older Black voters look as if theyll vote for Biden by margins similar to Clintons in 2016.
Black voters remain an overwhelmingly Democratic-leaning constituency, but a notable reduction in their support could still be a problem for Biden, according to the publication.
In a last-ditch effort to attract more Black voters, Trump unveiled his Platinum Plan for Black Americans mere weeks before the election. It includes proposals to designate the Ku Klux Klan and antifa as terrorist organizations, make lynching a hate crime, recognize Juneteenth as a federal holiday, and increase investments in Black communities by supporting Black homeownership, small businesses, and job creation. The plan is vague it lists what Trump would seek to accomplish but doesnt explain how hed get there.
Ultimately, the idea of whos done more for Black people homogenizes Black communities stripping them of their diverse identities and backgrounds and makes elected officials accountable during election season only.

There are threats to academic freedom that make it difficult for professors to transmit knowledge to the next generation and help students learn valuable critical reasoning skills. By delegitimizing knowledge sector organizations, these attacks weaken accountability and harm system performance. The undermining of civil society makes it difficult to address basic problems such as gun safety, climate change, and income inequality.

Trump’s decision to unilaterally withdraw the US from the 2015 nuclear deal in May 2018 has induced chaos throughout the Middle East.
It remains one of Trump’s most unpopular decisions in the global arena, and has been condemned by top US allies who were also signatories to the deal.
The former president failed to thwart Iran’s aggressive behavior in the region through a maximum pressure campaign, meant to squeeze Tehran into negotiating a more stringent version of the pact.
After a series of incidents in the Persian Gulf region in 2019, tensions between Washington and Tehran reached historic heights and sparked fears of war. These fears were exacerbated after Trump ordered a strike that killed Iran’s top general, Qassem Soleimani, in early January 2020. The strike led Iran to retaliate and fire on US troops in the region, and dozens were seriously injured.
Iran also abandoned the 2015 nuclear deal, which was designed to prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Trump’s decision to pull US troops out of northern Syria in October 2019 was also among his most disastrous foreign policy moves. In doing so, Trump effectively abandoned US-allied Kurdish forces who bore the brunt of the US-led campaign against ISIS to a Turkish military invasion.

The Prevalence Of Counter
The United States has a political system that allows small groups of people to thwart action desired by large groups of individuals. Called counter-majoritarianism, this malady refers to institutions that overrepresent certain areas at the expense of others. One of the clearest examples is the U.S. Senate, which overrepresents small and medium-sized states. Because of the equal representation of Senators per state, California with 39 million residents has two Senators, the same as Wyoming with 581,000 residents.
A related problem occurs in the Electoral College, which overrepresents small and medium-sized states. It allows candidates that lose the popular vote to gain the presidency by triumphing in a number of small states. Republican presidential candidates have won the presidential popular vote only once since 1992 , but have controlled the presidency in almost half of that time span.
The political success enabled by counter-majoritarianism allows Republicans to dictate policymaking, stack the federal judiciary, and dominate government actions. Bills supported by large numbers of voters languish and make voters cynical about congressional inaction. Stopping or delaying action wanted by large numbers of voters weakens public confidence in government and reduces trust in the integrity of the political system. Taken together, these maladies harm democracy and pose significant threats to the future of the United States.

4) He spoke directly to the hopes and fears of the forgotten working class of all races, creeds and colors. He understood that Washington and its economic policies had hollowed out the middle of America and he took positive action to return power, capital and jobs back to the heartland.
5) He was a true outsider who smashed the political globalist consensus of America as the worlds piggy bank, reestablished the idea of enforceable borders and made our allies pay their fair share for their own security.
6) He made inroads with Black voters: He signed criminal justice reform. And he played the Kanye-Kardashian card very effectively.
