Trump Calls Upcoming Justice For J6 Rally A Setup
There are more than 600 people charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
09/16/2021 03:01 PM EDT
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called Saturdays Justice for J6 rally a setup for Republican voters regardless of the outcome.
On Saturday, thats a setup, Trump said in an interview with the Federalist. If people dont show up theyll say, Oh, its a lack of spirit. And if people do show up theyll be harassed.
The former president found multiple ways to weigh in on the upcoming rally on Thursday, sending out a statement echoing the messaging of the potential rally goers. The narrative surrounding Jan. 6 has been warped by some members of the Republican Party, especially groups planning to rally on Sept. 18 in support of those currently detained for participating in the insurrection.
The shift in messaging has aimed to cast those on trial as political prisoners. There are more than 600 people charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
Trump used his platform to fuel that narrative on Thursday, once again projecting his false claim the very one that drove the insurrectionists to the Capitol on Jan. 6 that the election was stolen from him.
Saturdays rally has reignited concerns about another wave of violence on Capitol Hill as law enforcement prepares for the event. Its being planned by Look Ahead America, a nonprofit led by a former Trump campaign staffer whos said it will be a peaceful protest.

Trumps Cabinet Weighed Removing Him After Jan 6
Members of the presidents Cabinet were distressed enough by the assault on the Capitol and the presidents encouragement of the mob and refusal to intervene that they quietly discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, Ms. Hutchinson testified. The ignominious prospect of being the first president to be subject to the amendment was one of the reasons he agreed to record a video on Jan. 7 committing to a peaceful transfer of power.

Recent polling puts Liz Cheney down 30 points
The Trump Save America Rally tour headed out west this weekend with a stop specifically aimed at campaigning against Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney. The Wyoming Republican Primary takes place on and recent polling indicates that Cheney is in a deep hole with GOP voters.
This rally was designed to give Harriet Hageman, Trumps endorsed candidate against Cheney, time to mount a challenge and unseat the incumbent as the sole Congressional representative from the state. So far, early numbers indicate that Hageman may cruise to an easy victory with Trumps endorsement forcing consolidation of the candidate field.

Rep Moore Speaks On Upcoming Trump Rally
Earlier this month, it was announced that former President Donald Trump will be in Cullman next weekend for a Save America rally.
One of his strongest supporters is 2nd Congressional District Congressman Barry Moore.
Tuesday in Enterprise he talked about the upcoming rally and whether the former president is gearing up for a potential run in 2024.
Moore says he believes the rally is more about freedoms in America.
Trump, I think in a lot of ways is trying to help win House seats so as he travels to these states and Senate seats, 2nd Congressional District Rep, Barry Moore added. Obviously, hes not up for election right now, so I think hes trying to build a base for Congress to get the gavel away from Nancy Pelosi maybe get a majority in the Senate, because hes always kind of fought for those candidates and I think thats more what hes doing right now.
Moore plans to attend the rally in Cullman on August 21st.

What To Watch For
How Trump continues to tease a 2024 run. In an interview with the Daily Wire, an online conservative outlet, earlier this month, Trump said his supporters will be very happy with his decision about whether to run again in 2024. I look forward to doing an announcement at the right time, Trump told Daily Wire host Candace Owens. As you know, its very early. But I think people are going to be very, very happy when I make a certain announcement. You know, for campaign finance reasons, you really cant do it too early because it becomes a whole different thing.

Trump To Rally For Palin Dunleavy Tshibaka In Alaska
A statement from a Trump political action committee said the event will take place July 9 in Anchorage. It says Trump will deliver remarks in support of Palin, Gov. Mike Dunleavy and Kelly Tshibaka, a Republican running for U.S. Senate in a race with incumbent Republican Lisa Murkowski.
Trump late last year said Dunleavy had his complete and total endorsement, but that was subject to Dunleavy not endorsing Murkowski. Murkowski has been critical of Trump and voted to convict him at his impeachment trial last year. Trump was acquitted of the sole charge of incitement of insurrection related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Tshibaka, in a statement, said: It will be a great honor to welcome President Trump to Alaska for what will be the greatest attended political event in our states history.
Alaskas elections are occurring under a system approved by voters that ends party primaries and institutes ranked voting in general elections. Under the system, the top four finishers in the Aug. 16 primary, regardless of party affiliation, are to advance to the November general election, where ranked voting will be used.
Palin also is running in the regular U.S. House primary.
Palin, an early Trump supporter, said she was honored to get Trumps endorsement early on in this race, and Im excited to welcome him to the great state of Alaska.
The Murkowski campaign declined comment on the event, Murkowski campaign spokesperson Shea Siegert said.

A Spokesman Said The Comment By Rep Mary E Miller Was A Mix
A Republican lawmaker called the Supreme Courts decision to overturn the nationwide right to abortion established nearly 50 years ago in Roe v. Wade a victory for white life, which was met with cheers at a rally held by former president Donald Trump.
President Trump, on behalf of all the MAGA patriots in America, I want to thank you for the historic victory for white life in the Supreme Court yesterday, Rep. Mary E. Miller said at the rally Saturday night in Mendon, Ill., referring to Trumps former campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.
She began clapping her hands as spectators, some clutching red Save America placards, also began to applaud.
Her remark drew widespread condemnation on social media, and Millers team swiftly issued an explanation for what it deemed to be a mix-up of words.
Millers spokesman, Isaiah Wartman, told the Associated Press that the Illinois Republican misread her prepared speech and was supposed to declare the divisive court ruling a victory for the right to life.
You can clearly see in the video shes looking at her papers and looking at her speech, Wartman said.
Trump who has endorsed Miller against GOP Rep. Rodney Davis after Democrats redistricted them into competing for a single seat was hosting the rally ahead of the states hotly contested primary on Tuesday.

Trump To Rally In Alaska To Boost Tshibaka Palin And Gov Dunleavy
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to participate in a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, to show his support for congressional candidates Kelly Tshibaka and Sarah Palin, as well as Gov. Mike Dunleavy .
The event, set for Saturday, July 9, will take place at the Alaska Airlines Center. The festivities are slated to begin at 11 a.m. local time, and Trump is scheduled to present his remarks at 4 p.m.
Trump’s rare excursion across the country to Alaska could provide a boost in particular to Tshibaka, who is attempting to unseat Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, one of seven Republican senators who voted to impeach Trump last year. There are more than a dozen others in the top-four primary contest, which includes all parties, set for August.
It will be a great honor to welcome President Trump to Alaska for what will be the greatest attended political event in our states history, Tshibaka said in a statement, according to KTUU. When President Trump endorsed me last summer, we planned this incredible rally, and now its just weeks away.
Palin is a former Alaskan governor who became John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008. She is running for a seat in the House of Representatives that was left vacant after the death of Rep. Don Young earlier this year and said she was looking forward to hosting the former president.
