How To Meet Donald Trump

Analysistrump’s Iran Policy Is Deepening Mistrust In North Korea Experts Say

How Melania Trump met ‘The Donald’

But a senior Trump administration official told NBC News ahead of the meeting Sunday that the administration was hoping that even a handshake might jump-start negotiations at a lower level led by Stephen Biegun, the U.S. special representative for North Korea.

Those talks could then focus on making more substantive progress on the nuclear issues.

Indeed, Trump said after the meeting that Biegun and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would be handling the relaunched nuclear talks between the countries.

And while Trump said that sanctions on the North would remain in place for now, he seemed to leave open the possibility that some could be removed during the talks, a shift from the longstanding U.S. position that all sanctions remain in place until a denuclearization deal is struck.

“At some point during the negotiation, things can happen,” Trump said.

National security hawks and many of Trumps critics have warned that such meetings plays into Kim’s hands, boosting him domestically and providing room for Pyongyang to continue to stall while it moves ahead with its nuclear program.

North Korea is believed to have dozens of nuclear warheads and the ability to mount them on missiles, but has yet to prove it can deliver those nuclear-tipped missiles successfully to distances as remote as the U.S. mainland.

Mr. Kesler is a professor of government at Claremont McKenna College.

Addressing his cheering supporters in New Hampshire, Bernie Sanders declared, This victory here is the beginning of the end for Donald Trump.

But wait, wasnt the House vote to impeach him the beginning of the end for Donald Trump? The United States had never before impeached a president running for re-election, and now we are beginning to see some of the incongruities of switching from one constitutional process to another so quickly. One could be forgiven for thinking that the Democrats nominating process will play out as a sequel to the impeachment proceedings, a strange coda in which each candidate will try to prove to fellow Democrats the case against Mr. Trump that the House managers failed to win in the Republican-controlled Senate.

What isnt normal is that this years Democrats feel they must condemn also, and especially, Mr. Trump himself as a danger to the Constitution and to the integrity of the 2020 election. They have to show that the impeachment was not in vain.

Ivana Trump’s Montreal Memories

Barack Obama denies wire

Although she first landed in Toronto, Ivana Trump moved to Montreal and lived there for a brief period during the mid-1970s. It was a busy time in her life, she said, but one that held fond memories, too.

“It was really work, work and work a little bit of the fun and a lot of skiing,” Trump recalled in 1993, during a visit to the city almost two decades after she lived there.

The weather in Montreal also made an impression on her.

“Canada, in case you don’t know, is freaking cold!” Trump wrote in her 2017 book Raising Trump.

Trump Meets Kim Jong Un Becomes First Sitting Us President To Step Into North Korea

SEOUL, South Korea Taking an unprecedented step onto North Korean soil, President Donald Trump announced Sunday that Washington and Pyongyang will relaunch stalled nuclear talks. The statement came during an extraordinary last-minute meeting with Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader.

Side-by-side with Kim in the heavily-fortified demilitarized zone, Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to cross the 1953 armistice line separating North and South Korea, then joined Kim for a roughly 50-minute meeting.

It was their third since Trump took office, but none have yet yielded a nuclear deal.

“Stepping across that line was a great honor,” Trump said, later adding that it was “something incredible.”

Trump deemed the meeting a victory, announcing that nuclear talks would resume “within weeks” and that the two countries were designating teams of officials to take the lead.

He even invited Kim, who rarely leaves the country, to visit him at the White House.

Yet for all the fanfare, there were no signs that the U.S. and the North had made any concrete progress on denuclearization, the issue that has led to North Korea’s estrangement from the world.

And veteran nuclear negotiators and North Korea experts immediately questioned whether Trump, by staging a high-profile photo-op absent nuclear concessions, was bestowing legitimacy on Kim and undermining global pressure to force the North to accept a denuclearization deal.

A Job But Not A Career

While in Montreal, Trump did some modelling. But it wasn’t a line of employment that she intended to stick with in the long-term.

“Modelling is a job to me, not a career,” she told the Montreal Gazette back in 1975, a comment the paper reprinted years later when Trump was a household name.

It was during her modelling days, however, that she met Donald Trump.

Several accounts exist of how they met or as the New York Daily News once put it, the exact story has “been lost in the mists of legend.”

In 1979, the New York Times reported the future spouses had met at a party in Montreal.

Over time, however, it has been reported that Donald and Ivana Trump actually met in New York and according to Raising Trump, the couple met when she had travelled to that city on a modelling gig related to promotion of the Montreal Olympics.

Does Anyone Really Believe Trump

Meet the Trump supporters with no regrets about the Capitol insurrection

When a massive explosion vaporized the center of Beirut last week, Trump that same day declared it an “attack … a bomb of some kind” with a level of certainty that should have sent ripples of concern through foreign governments. As it was, few paid any attention. His comment barely registered as news, and evidence quickly surfaced that the blast was almost certainly a terrible accident.

And there have been other pronouncements recently that, all things being equal, should have generated quite a stir. Except they didn’t.

The president promised July 19 that within two weeks, he’d produce a long-awaited plan for overhauling the nation’s health care system. Days later, he committed to unveiling a strategy for defeating coronavirus “that’s going to be very, very powerful.” And recently, Trump said that if reelected, he’d strike a deal with Iran in four weeks.

All have been met with a collective shrug, probably because Americans sensed they would come to nothing. There has been no health care plan and no grand COVID-19 strategy, even as U.S. deaths due to the coronavirus surpass 165,000. And does anyone really believe Trump will reach an agreement with an Iranian regime that refuses even to speak with him?

Who Is Melania Trump

Born in Slovenia, Melania Trump worked in Europe as a model and eventually wound up in New York, where she met real estate mogul Donald Trump. With Donald’s election to the U.S. presidency in 2016, Melania became the first foreign-born U.S. first lady since Louisa Adams in the 1820s. She went on to champion the “Be Best” initiative, which promoted emotional and physical well-being for children.

‘a Brutal Dinner’: Celebrities Talk About Meeting Donald Trump

Woody Harrelson is the latest person to share his embarrassing story of meeting the reality TV star before he became president

If you think its bad enough sharing a planet with Donald Trump, spare a thought for poor Woody Harrelson. Because according to the man himself, Harrelson once shared a dinner table with the president, and it went just as well as you would expect. In a recent Esquire interview, Harrelson deployed a Trump anecdote for the ages.

In 2002, then Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura invited Harrelson to a brutal dinner at Trump Tower, because Trump was trying to convince Ventura to be his 2004 Democratic running mate. Over two and a half hours, Harrelson, Ventura, Trump and his fiancee, Melania Knauss, enjoyed each others company. Except Harrelson had a terrible time. Heres how he described it:

Now, at a fair table with four people, each person is entitled to 25% of the conversation, right? Id say Melania got about 0.1%, maybe. I got about 1%. And the governor, Jesse, he got about 3%. Trump took the rest. It got so bad I had to go outside and burn one before returning to the monologue monopoly.

The story is a reminder of what is perhaps Trumps one saving grace. Before he was president, he was just a common or garden celebrity. And this means that every other celebrity who ever met him has a story about what an idiot he is. Here are a few others.

Now To The Cautious Cheer Of Investors The Billionaire Alibaba E

Jack Ma’s charitable foundation did not respond to a request for comment.

Hong Kong:

This was supposed to be Jack Ma’s finest hour: a year ago to the day, his Ant Group was meant to go public in a $37 billion blaze of glory. Instead Beijing reined in his empire, abruptly clipping the wings of corporate China’s biggest star.

Now, to the cautious cheer of investors, the billionaire Alibaba e-commerce tycoon is taking his first tentative steps back on to the global stage with a low-key trip to Europe where he’s cultivating like horticulture.

It’s a far cry from the height of Ma’s statesman-like powers in 2017 when he travelled to New York to meet President-elect Donald Trump for one-on-one talks in Trump Tower days before inauguration and promised to create a million American jobs.

That high-profile outing had roiled the Chinese government, which first learned of the meeting and jobs pledge along with the rest of the world when Ma held an informal televised Q& A session with reporters in the lobby of the skyscraper, according to four people close to Alibaba with knowledge of the matter and one Beijing government source.

Alibaba’s government relations team was subsequently told by Chinese officials that Beijing was unhappy about Ma meeting Trump without its prior approval, two of the people close to the company said.

Ma’s charitable foundation, which handles his media queries, did not respond to a request for comment.
