Tweets As Official Statements

WATCH: White House aide says Trump’s tweets about Pence on Jan. 6 were ‘unpatriotic’

Throughout his presidency, Trump frequently appeared to issue orders through his tweets. Whether these tweets were official directives was unclear. A US National Archives spokesman said that Trumps tweets are considered presidential records.

In 2017, the Department of Justice argued in one court case that Trumps tweets were official statements of the President of the United States. In another case, the DOJ argued they were official policy statements but that the tweets were also personal conduct that is not an exercise of state power. The ABA Journal wrote in 2017, Theres little caselaw on to what extent government use of social media can be considered official or a public forum, which affords First Amendment protection to people who might be excluded based on their viewpoints.

In 2019, the Secretary of the US Navy said he did not interpret a Trump tweet as a formal order to act after Trump tweeted that the Navy should not take away Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallaghers status as a Navy SEAL.

In 2020, a court asked that Trump clarify his intention after he tweeted what appeared to be an order calling for the disclosure of documents related to Russian interference in the 2016 election. In a court filing White House Chief of Staff said that: The President indicated to me that his statements on Twitter were not self-executing declassification orders and do not require the declassification or release of any particular documents.

Trump Has One Of The Highest Iqs Around

As funny as this quote is, you have to hand it to “The Donald.” He would not have gotten as far as he did if he were not an intelligent man. While he may have a bit of an over-sized ego at times, it’s clear that he has the brain power to achieve success and lead this country – and he definitely isn’t shy about it.

New York Attorney General Files Civil Fraud Lawsuit Against Trump Some Of His Children And His Business

Did anyone get see/screenshot the tweets that got trump banned from ...

The New York state attorney general filed a sweeping lawsuit Wednesday against former President Donald Trump, three of his adult children and the Trump Organization, alleging they were involved in an expansive fraud lasting over a decade that the former President used to enrich himself.

In the more than 200-page lawsuit, Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, alleges the fraud touched all aspects of the Trump business, including its properties and golf courses. According to the lawsuit, the Trump Organization deceived lenders, insurers and tax authorities by inflating the value of his properties using misleading appraisals.

âThis conduct cannot be brushed aside and dismissed as some sort of good-faith mistake,â James said at a news conference in New York.

âThe statements of financial condition were greatly exaggerated, grossly inflated, objectively false, and therefore fraudulent and illegal,â she added. âAnd as a result of that we are seeking relief, and Mr. Trump, the Trump Organization, his family â they should all be held accountable.â

Trump and his children, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump, are named as defendants in the lawsuit. Allen Weisselberg, former CFO for the Trump Organization, and Jeff McConney, another longtime company executive, are also named.

The US attorneyâs office declined to comment.

Donald J. Trump

This video begins with Trumps announcement in 2015 that he will run for President. After the announcement, the video shows clips of him being mocked left and right by pundits, politicians, and celebrities alike who all clearly thought his 2016 bid was a joke and a publicity stunt. The buildup toward the end of the video shows several outlets coverage of election night where Hillary was expected to win running away, and ultimately concluded with some epic meltdowns once the result became apparent. With this video, the Donald decided to remind us all how wrong so many people were, including myself.

He seems to tweet this out every few months, which is brilliant considering how blatant the bias becomes after watching it.

President Trump Tweets: ‘I won the Election! as He Battles to Claim Presidential Election Victory

In response to being kicked off the Twitter platform, and losing his audience of 89 million followers, Trump announced the release of his new social media platform Truth Social. The social media platform first launched in February and has been dealing with bugs and technical errors ever since, making it difficult for users to join and experience the platform.

On April 25, 2022, Elon Musk announced a deal to purchase Twitter for $44 million. . Trump responded to this by saying he would not be returning to Twitter and instead would be remaining solely on Truth Social.

However, a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on May 16, 2022 shows that Trump is required to post something on Truth Social first, but six hours after posting he can repost the same thing on whatever platform he pleases.

The filing also noted that Trump can post any political messaging, fundraising, or get-out-the-vote type posts to any personal account on any platform, whenever he wants. This means that in many instances he wouldn’t have to wait the six hours to post on other social media platforms.

Trump Vs Rashida Tlaib

This tweet is in reference to recent news of Israel banning representatives Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering the country due to their support for BDS which is a direct assault on Israels economy and sovereignty. Tlaib hopped on Twitter to condemn Israel for not allowing her to see her grandmother .

Tlaib wanted to cause Trouble and seek out drama. If not, she would have attended the official congressional delegation last week. Her goal was to go to Israel, undermine it and praise their enemies. Nice try, but anyone who isnt an Islamist sees through this scheme.

Family Was Deposed By Ags Office

Washington Post on Twitter: " Opinion: Poll by sinking poll, Trump ...

In April, after a protracted legal fight to enforce subpoenas for Trump and his adult childrenâs depositions, lawyers with Jamesâ office saying they were nearing the end of the investigation and needed the Trumpsâ testimony before making a decision.

Last month, Trump did not answer questions and asserted his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination when deposed by the attorney generalâs office. Eric Trump, who runs the business on a daily basis, also invoked his Fifth Amendment right in 2020 in response to more than 500 questions.

Since Trump and Eric Trump declined to answer questions, if the case goes to trial, the jury can draw an âadverse inferenceâ against them for not answering questions. That could result in a higher judgment against them or the company if theyâre found liable.

Ivanka Trump and Trump Jr. both answered questions during interviews that spanned more than seven hours, sources told CNN.

James noted that Trump and Weisselberg invoked their Fifth Amendment privilege during her news conference.

âWhen asked under oath if he, Mr. Trump, continued to review and approve the statements after becoming president of the United States in 2017, Mr. Trump again invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege and refused to answer,â James said Wednesday.

This story has been updated with additional details.

CNNâs Shawna Mizelle and Devan Cole contributed to this report.

Stripped Of Twitter Trump Faces A New Challenge: How To Command Attention

Mr. Trump became a celebrity through television, but Twitter had given him a singular outlet for expressing himself as he is, unfiltered by the norms of the presidency.

His public persona was a product of television for decades.

Through The Apprentice, he built a fantasy version of himself as a tough-minded chief executive of a global business empire and a self-made billionaire. His wrestling match-style rallies helped him dominate television during the 2016 presidential campaign. Ever attuned to how he was playing and the power of ratings, he personally chose which anchors he wanted to interview him, and persuaded hosts to allow him to simply phone into their Sunday shows.

But as his campaign played out and his presidency began, Donald J. Trump, the master of the small screen, evolved gradually into a different character, @realdonaldtrump, whose itchy finger became many things at once: an agenda-setter for the days coverage, a weapon against his rivals, a way of firing aides and cabinet secretaries, a grenade he could throw at Republican lawmakers who had crossed him and reporters whose coverage he hated, a window into his psyche, and most of all, an unfiltered pipeline to his supporters.

Twitter became a stage he could manage more tightly.

Proud Boys Oath Keepers And Qanon Spread The Message

The online chatter quickly spread through mainstream and encrypted channels.

Members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, extremist groups already charged with seditious conspiracy by the Department of Justice for their role in the riot, collided with the QAnon movement, followers of a sprawling internet conspiracy theory starring Donald Trump as a Messianic central figure.

President Trumps tweet drew tens of thousands of Americans to Washington to form the angry crowd that would be transformed into a violent mob, Mr Raskin said.

The committee established how General Flynn and Roger Stone, both members of Mr Trumps inner circle, had ties to the groups going back years.

In a video, Stone was shown taking the Proud Boys oath, declaring himself a western chauvinist.

An organiser of the Stop the Steal rally, which Mr Trump spoke at on the morning of the insurrection, said she had repeatedly expressed concerns the rally was being co-opted by extremists, remarking, the President likes the crazies.

The night before delivering his speech, Mr Trump was still writing it, embellishing his aides words and, ultimately, ad-libbing many of the most inflammatory lines. A single scripted reference to Mike Pence became eight.

You have to show strength and you have to be strong, he said, unscripted.

We have to fight like hell and if you dont fight like hell, youre not going to have a country anymore.

I was already worked up and so were most of the people there, he said.

Sticking To The Script

Trump most commonly tweeted about the government, media and corporate institutions, which often became fodder for news coverage. The media often framed the tweets as attacks and counter-punching. But in a closer read, they were not merely responses to criticism or bad news. They regularly described something, the way a narrator would.

But his recasting of reality through his own lens may have also played a role in Trumps downfall. All the attacks, all the twisting of information, all the fear, may have worn out just enough people in key states to ensure his defeat.

When that defeat struck, Trumps storytelling framework did not change: It escalated and multiplied, consuming everything and everyone who did not blatantly support what many have called the Big Lie that the election was rigged against him:

  • Jan. 3, 2021: I spoke to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger yesterday about Fulton County and voter fraud in Georgia. He was unwilling, or unable, to answer questions such as the ballots under table scam, ballot destruction, out of state voters, dead voters, and more. He has no clue!
  • Jan. 6, 2021: Mike Pence didnt have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!

WATCH: Trump tweet gave a green light to Capitol rioters, witness says

Uncovering and explaining how our digital world is changing and changing us.

A version of this story was originally published on Medium.

Our nation has been divided by cable TV and radio shows, by fake news, political propaganda and Facebook filter bubbles.

Everyone has their own group, their own contexts and their own set of facts. Its hard to pierce the bubble.

Trump is bypassing the very institutions that would keep his lies in check by going straight to Twitter and speaking to the masses without challenge, filter or context. And therein lies the opportunity for anyone who opposes him.

In particular, President-elect Donald Trump has a rabid fan base that seems unreachable. The reason is that Trump has inoculated them against facts.

Hes done this by giving credibility to tabloid journalism, fake news, conspiracy theories and Russian dictators.

More astonishingly, he has discredited our best newspapers, our best journalists, our best fact-checking organizations and even the institutions of media and fact-checking themselves.

So among Trump followers, the lunatic rantings of whack-job Alex Jones is true. Detailed reports, backed up by data and great sources is false.

Or, more accurately, any report that benefits Trump is true. Any report that does not benefit Trump is false.

Meanwhile, Trump is bypassing the very institutions that would keep his lies in check by and speaking to the masses without challenge, filter or context.

I discovered this by accident.

Ag: Trumps Oldest Children Knowingly Participated

Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. âknowingly participatedâ in the alleged fraudulent schemes, the lawsuit states.

The alleged scheme ârequired the participation of Mr. Trump and his children,â the lawsuit said, adding that the children were âaware of the true financial performance of the company.â

The lawsuit, for instance, alleges that Eric Trump was involved in an approach to appraising properties in Las Vegas in a way that lowered their value for tax purposes while inflating their value on Trump financial statements.

It also quotes testimony from Trump Jr. as it describes how the value of Trump Park Avenue was allegedly inflated on Trump financial statements. An appraisal of the property by an outside firm in 2010 for a loan took into account how some of the units were rent-stabilized, lowering their value, according to Jamesâ complaint. Yet, Trump financial statements put a value on the units roughly six times higher than what the appraiser had concluded, the lawsuit said.

And the lawsuit pointed to Ivanka Trumpâs involvement in securing a loan for purchasing the Doral golf course in Florida and Chicago properties in 2012 â loans that James claims were extended in part because of financial statements allegedly containing misrepresentations.
