Rep. Liz Cheney is wasting no time beginning the next phase of her bid to prevent Donald Trumps return to office.
In coming weeks, Liz will be launching an organization to educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic, and to mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president, Cheney spokesperson Jeremy Adler told Playbook exclusively.
The new group, which will serve as Cheneys primary political vehicle as she considers whether to run for president in 2024, does not have an official name yet. An informed guess: The Great Task, which was the name of Cheneys final ad of the campaign. The phrase is from the last sentence of the Gettysburg Address, and Cheney also referenced it in her concession speech from Jackson, Wyo., on Tuesday night.
Cheneys campaign filed paperwork early Monday converting her campaign committee to a leadership PAC and renaming it The Great Task. The move will allow Cheney to continue raising money and potentially distribute it to like-minded candidates in the near term while she hashes out a longer-term strategy.

Donald Trump Campaign Emails Use Misleading Subject Lines Spam
Promotional emails sent on behalf of former President Donald Trump and his allies have used misleading senders and subject lines to bait their own supporters, amid aggressive GOP campaigns to take back Congress and the presidency.
Since President Joe Biden‘s 2020 win, Trump’s Save America Political Action Committee has been prolific in its output of emails containing guilt-tripping calls for donations, key Trumpist talking points , and attacks on his successor.
However, a number of these messagesin addition to the email blasts by Trump allies that Save America subscribers were automatically signed up tohave gone a step further by using seemingly deceptive practices.
Dozens of emails from Trump’s PAC feign direct exchanges with the recipients, using senders such as “Donald J. Trump, me,” “You, Trump,” or “me, Donald Trump, Jr.”
Other fundraising emails were crafted to appear as forwarded messages, without mentioning Trump. One template has “fwd: yours truly” as the sender and “fwd: fwd: me, you” as the subject line. Another is sent by “automatic email fwd,” with the subject line “It looks like you MISSED our email.”
Several Trump campaign emails soliciting donations also put their sender down as “This must be a mistake.”
Newsweek has reached out to Trump’s office for comment.
Republican congressional candidates endorsed by Trump have also followed suit.
The message itself urged supporters to “accept Trump’s friend request right now” or else “his social site WILL FAIL.”

In a September 2015 radio interview, Cohen suggested that Trump could meet with Putin at the United Nations General Assembly. During the special counsel investigation, Cohen initially claimed that was a spontaneous comment. But the special counsel later said Cohen admitted that, by the time of his radio comments, he had already conferred with Trump about contacting the Russian government before reaching out to gauge Russias interest in such a meeting.

Federal Grand Jury Probing Trump Pac’s Formation Fundraising Efforts: Sources
The grand jury has subpoenaed several individuals in recent weeks, sources say.
A federal grand jury investigating the activities leading up the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the push by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the result of the 2020 election has expanded its probe to include seeking information about Trump’s leadership PAC, Save America, sources with direct knowledge tell ABC News.
The interest in the fundraising arm came to light as part of grand jury subpoenas seeking documents, records and testimony from potential witnesses, the sources said.
The subpoenas, sent to several individuals in recent weeks, are specifically seeking to understand the timeline of Save America’s formation, the organization’s fundraising activities, and how money is both received and spent by the Trump-aligned PAC.
Trump Asks Where Do I Get My Reputation Back After Revealing Testimony From Clinton Campaign Manager
Former President Donald Trump called the Russia probe against him one of the greatest political scandals in history after May 20 court testimony revealed that Hillary Clinton had given the approval to disseminate the claims linking him to a Russian bank.
This is one of the greatest political scandals in history, Trump told Fox News on May 21. For three years, I had to fight her off, and fight those crooked people off, and youll never get your reputation fully back.
Where do I get my reputation back?
Trump said the resources poured into finding whether he and members of his campaign had worked with Russia to meddle with the 2016 election had diverted attention on what could have been a real danger with Russia.
Robby Mook, Clintons former campaign manager, told a federal court on May 20 that he was first briefed about the allegations of a purported secret back channel between Trumps business and Russias Alfa Bank by the Clinton campaigns top lawyer, Marc Elias.
The campaign didnt immediately act on the allegations for fear that they werent credible, Mook said, noting that the campaign officials lacked the subject matter expertise to assess the claims. When the group decided to share the information with the media, he ran the decision by Clinton.
We told her we have this, and we want to share it with a reporter. She agreed to that, he said.
Our hope was they were going to run it down, that it would be substantive and accurate, Mook said.

Meeting With Russian Lawyer
On June 9, 2016, Trump Jr., campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner held a meeting with Kremlin-connected lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who promised Trump Jr. that she had damaging information about Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. According to The New York Times, Trump Jr. initially said the meeting was about adoptions of Russian children. He later issued a statement saying, “After pleasantries were exchanged the woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Mrs. Clinton. Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.”
Fall 201: Michael Cohen Begins Plans For A Trump Tower In Moscow
Also in September of 2015, Cohen began communicating with Felix Sater, a Russian-born Trump business associate, about a plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. The idea of a Trump property in the Russian capital had been around for decades, but after Trump announced his presidential bid, Sater reached out to Cohen and set up a meeting for September, according to a detailed report on the project from BuzzFeed News.
After the meeting, Sater emailed Cohen multiple times in October 2015 to let him know about a meeting with a developer, and then to say that Saters associates would be meeting with Putin and a top deputy and that he had secured financing from VTB Bank, a Russian bank that was under U.S. sanctions at the time. On October 13, 2015, Sater sent a letter of intent, signed by a Moscow developer, to Cohen and asked him to get Trumps signature. And on Oct. 28, the day of the third Republican primary debate, Trump signed the letter.
Sater and Cohen continued to trade emails about the progress of negotiations over the next few months. On November 3, 2015, Sater bragged about his Kremlin connections, saying: I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected, according to emails first published by the New York Times. Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it, he continued. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.
