How To Get A Message To Trump

Hutchinson Recalls Meadows Said Things Might Get Real Real Bad On Jan 6

Obama’s handwritten letter to President Trump revealed

Thompson swore Hutchinson in and began his questioning, first showing photos that demonstrated her background working for Republicans on Capitol Hill and then in the White House.

In her work with Meadows, Hutchinson said she was in contact with the chief of staff “throughout every day, consistently.”

Hutchinson said she recalled a meeting at the White House on the evening of Jan. 2 between Meadows and Giuliani. As Hutchinson was escorting Giuliani from the White House, she recalled him saying, “Cass, are you excited for the 6th? It’s going to be a great day.”

Hutchinson said she asked Giuliani to explain the significance of Jan. 6, and he responded, “We’re going to the Capitol. It’s going to be great. The president is going to be there, he’s going to look powerful,” and he encouraged her to speak with Meadows.

After Giuliani left the White House campus, Hutchinson said she did ask Meadows about Jan. 6 and said “It sounds like we’re going to go to the Capitol.”

“There’s a lot going on Cass, but I don’t know, things might get real, real bad on Jan. 6,” Meadows told Hutchinson, she recalled.

Hutchinson said she was already “apprehensive” about the events of Jan. 6, but Giuiani’s and Meadows’ comments elevated her concerns.

“That evening was the first moment I remember feeling scared and nervous for what could happen on Jan. 6,” she said.

Tuesday’s Witness Will Be Cassidy Hutchinson A Top Aide To Former Trump White House Chief Of Staff Mark Meadows

While the committee did not say who would be testifying, CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane reports the surprise witness is Hutchinson, whose taped deposition before the committee has already been used in previous presentations.

“According to committee court filings reviewed by CBS News, she was in the room for key meetings in those chaotic days before January 6th,” MacFarlane reports.

Hutchinson told the committee that five Republican members of Congress sought “preemptive pardons” from Trump for their participation in a Dec. 21, 2020, meeting in which House GOP members met with the president to plot a path forward to overturn the election results.

Can Online Platforms Silence Trump And His Followers

Silicon Valley companies have frequently tried, often without much success, to go after those peddling harmful content – from election disinformation to hate speech and violent threats – but their actions in recent days have been the toughest so far.

The First Amendment guaranteeing free speech does not generally apply to private-sector companies, allowing them to moderate speech that incites violence on their platforms.

I think there was a legitimate public policy interest over the last four-plus years in maintaining the president and his voice on Twitter and other platforms. But clearly, what he has done has exceeded any reasonable public policy interest, said Chris Krebs, former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Meeting Wasnt Ultimately Secret

It is unclear if the individuals who received Sinners directions even read the message or followed its calls for secrecy, one person familiar with it told CNN.

The email was sent a few hours after Trump campaign and GOP state operatives discussed how some state legislatures would be difficult for GOP electors to access. In Wisconsin another state where Trump put forward fake electors after his loss the electors also met in secret, CNN previously reported. One Trump elector in Wisconsin said the secrecy was for security reasons, though the Wisconsin Republican Party disputed that those electors met secretly.

Sinners told CNN this week that in late 2020 he was working at the direction of Trump campaign attorneys and the Georgia GOP chairman David Shafer, who was an elector. I was advised by attorneys that this was necessary in order to preserve the pending legal challenges longevity, Sinners said.

Following the former Presidents refusal to accept the results of the election and allow a peaceful transition of power, my views on this matter have changed significantly from where they were on December 13, Sinners added. He now works in the office of Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who resisted pressure from Trump after the election.

Shafers attorney told CNN that his client did not try to keep things secret.

He was not.

WASHINGTON, Jan 11 The decision by tech companies to clamp down on President Donald Trumps ability to speak to followers through mainstream social media may force him to tap more traditional methods of communication or more isolated conservative online channels during his final days in office, experts say.

Twitter Inc , Facebook Inc , Alphabet Inc-owned Google , Apple Inc and Amazon.com Inc took their strongest actions yet against Trump to limit his reach, fearing continued violence stemming from his posts after his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol building last week. HOW CAN TRUMP REACH HIS FOLLOWERS?

Donald Trump Offering Personalized Messages On Post

Former President Donald Trump has a large and fiercely loyal following of supporters, and now he’s given them a way to request a personalized message.

Trump’s post-presidential website has a section where supporters can request a message from the ex-president and former first lady Melania Trump for a “special occasion.”

It’s not uncommon for a former president to give people a way to reach, and you can request a personalized memento from former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

Requesting a message from the Trumps is fairly easy and can be submitted electronically directly from his website. The form asks about the occasion, information on the recipient and requestor and any additional details the former president should know.

Receiving a message from Trump isn’t guaranteed, though, and requires planning because it can take up to six weeks to get a greeting. The office won’t provide status updates, either, and advises people to not resubmit a request because a duplicate request will supersede the original submission and delay processing.

Record high numbers of people turned out in last November’s election, and although he lost to Joe Biden, Trump received the most votes of any Republican presidential candidate in history. He hasn’t ruled out making another bid for the presidency in 2024, and a majority of his supporters are willing to back him as the Republican nominee.

Hutchinson Says Trump Tried To Grab Steering Wheel Lunged At Head Of Security In The Car When He Was Told He Couldn’t Go To The Capitol

Hutchinson testified that when she returned to the White House, Ornato told her that Trump had a “very strong, very angry response” when he was told he could not go to the Capitol after his speech.

Hutchinson said she was told by Ornato, in a room with the head of Trump’s security detail Robert Engel, that the president became “irate” when he was told in his vehicle that he could not go to the Capitol. He said something to the effect of “I’m the effing president, take me up to the Capitol now,” Hutchinson said.

When told he had to return to the West Wing, Trump reached up to the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel, prompting Engel to grab his arm, Hutchinson said she was told by Ornato.

The president then used his free hand to lunge towards Engel, she said, noting that Ornato “motioned towards his clavicles” when describing the incident.

Hutchinson said Engel did not correct or disagree with any part of what Ornato said.

A source close to the Secret Service confirmed to CBS News that Engel and the driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was physically attacked or assaulted by Trump and that the former president never lunged for the steering wheel of the vehicle.

They do not dispute that Trump was irate or that he demanded to be taken to the Capitol, in the language that Hutchinson related to the committee.

Americans Split By Party Over Charging Trump For Jan 6 Riot: Poll

Jeff Merkley: We Need To Send A Message To Future Leaders By Convicting Trump | Deadline | MSNBC

Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinsons bombshell testimony before the House select committee investigating last years Capitol riot faced broad pushback Wednesday but she says that she stands by her stunning claims.

Hutchinson, who worked for President Donald Trumps final chief of staff, Mark Meadows, told a rapt audience Tuesday that Trump attempted to overpower his Secret Service detail and commandeer the presidential SUV in a bid to join the throng of his supporters seeking to overturn the election results, among other shocking and never-before-aired anecdotes.

Some of the most jarring accounts, however, were denied by those involved after Trump allies initially slammed the stories as mostly hearsay that relied on what Hutchinson said she was told, rather than what she personally observed.

Ms. Hutchinson stands by all of the testimony she provided yesterday, under oath, to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, Hutchinson lawyers Jody Hunt and William Jordan said in a statement to CNN.

However, key areas of dispute are emerging, which may ultimately be clarified by witnesses with firsthand information at future hearings.

Gingrich: Best Ways To Send A Message To Trump Are Through Fox & Friends And Hannity

Occasionally, wed talk on Seans show knowing Trump was watching, Gingrich told The New York Times, referring to Sean Hannity

The two most effective ways of communicating with Trump are Fox & Friends and Hannity, Gingrich added.

Trump this year has repeatedly praised Fox & Friends, which recently announced that it would expand its weekday programming to five hours.

Gingrich in his interview with the newspaper praised Hannitys show as a successful way to communicate with Americans.

There are very few people who have a better understanding of the broad base, a better intuitive understanding of the kind of folks who elected Trump. He at least matches or surpasses Rush in that understanding, Gingrich told the newspaper of Hannity.

The president recently sparked controversy by saying Fox News is much more important than its rival network, CNN.

Fox News is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them! Trump said in a tweet last week.

British Elections Send A Message To Trump Gop And Bidens Democrats

Donald Trump

If Donald Trump were at all self-reflective, he would probably be kicking himself right now as he surveys the results of last weeks British elections. Through his own mistakes and obstinance in his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, he might conclude that he kicked away his chance to serve a second term in the White House.

These were the first elections in Britain since Boris Johnson became prime minister in 2019 and Johnsons Conservative Party came out winning, both in local races and in a signature victory in a working-class, parliamentary district in northeast England long held by the Labour Party.

Johnson, like Trump, mishandled the early stages of the pandemic. Like the former U.S. president, he contracted covid-19, and had a far worse case, having been hospitalized and in intensive care for a time. But his later handling of the pandemic was less uneven, and this year Britain stepped farther and faster in administering vaccinations than other European nations. It helped.

The British elections were not purely about the coronavirus pandemic, but nothing in politics today is free from the viruss effects in health, economic well-being and the public mood. On the most important issue of campaign 2020, Trump was a victim of his own making.

As Republicans debate Trumps role and what it means to be a conservative, Johnson, like Trump, is rewriting the rules of what conservatism means.
