A Handful Of Restaurant Investors Are Massive Trump Donors

Here’s What’s On A Typical Menu For Donald Trump

While no current CEOs of major fast-food chains are donating to presidential candidates, some investors and chair members are supporting Trump.

Billionaire Nelsen Peltz is the CEO and founding partner of investment management firm Trian, as well as a long-time donor to Republican politicians. Trian is an investor in Wendys and Peltz sits on fast-food chains board.

Peltz has donated at least $83,100 to Trump since 2016. In February, Peltz hosted a fundraiser for Trump with reported a $580,600 price of entry.

Stephen Ross is the chairman and founder of RSE Ventures, which has invested in a number of smaller restaurant companies including Momofuku, Milk Bar, and & Pizza. Ross has donated to a number of Republican PACs, and reportedly held a $100,000 a head fundraiser for Trump last year.

Other, lesser-known restaurant companies also have investors or executives who have made significant donations to Trump. These include:

There are also Trump megadonors in the food and beverage business outside of restaurants, such as Ron Cameron, the owner and chairman of poultry company Mountaire and Molson Coors Brewing Company chairman Pete Coors.

Lindsey Graham Will Go To War For Chick

After learning of an issue that involved him in no way at all Lindsey Graham decided this was the hill he wanted to die on, as he made clear in a flurry of tweets defending the controversial chicken chain.

I have always thought Notre Dame was one of the greatest universities in America, if not the world, he said.

Its disappointing to hear some ND students and faculty want to ban Chick-fil-A from doing business on campus because they disagree with the values held by the Chick-fil-A founders. What a dangerous precedent to set.

I want everyone in South Carolina and across America to know I have Chick fil-As back, he declared. I hope we dont have to, but I will go to war for the principles Chick fil-A stands for.

Great food. Great service. Great values. God bless Chick fil-A!

Lindsey Grahams rousing battle cry probably sounded a lot better in his head but either way it didnt elicit the reaction hed hoped for.

Lindsey Graham vows to go to war for Chick fil-A He wouldnt lift a finger to stop a violent insurrection, but he could kill for a chicken sandwich, one critic noted as the senators name began trending on Twitter.

Imagine being a grown ass man and simping for a large fast food chain so hard that you compare defending its chicken on a college campus to going to war. Quote from my daughter. Class of 2020

Why Chick

Chick-fil-A is arguably best known for three things: its juicy chicken sandwiches, its employees perpetually chipper attitudes, and its long history of donating to charities with anti-LGBTQ stances.

But one of those things seems to be changing next year. The fast-food chain is changing its charitable giving approach in 2020 and says, in an oblique way, that it will no longer donate to such organizations.

The Chick-fil-A Foundation will instead take a more focused giving approach, Chick-fil-A announced in a Monday press release. The foundation has set aside $9 million for 2020 that will be split between three initiatives: promoting youth education, combating youth homelessness, and fighting hunger. Those funds will be distributed to Junior Achievement USA, Covenant House International, and local food banks in cities where the chain opens new locations.

The release didnt outright say the biggest change to Chick-fil-As philanthropic giving plan: In 2020, the chain wont give any money to charities that take anti-LGBTQ stances. In an interview with real estate publication Bisnow, however, Chick-fil-As president and CEO Tim Tassopoulos made it clear that the companys new donation strategy is at least partly related to the constant backlash Chick-fil-A has faced over its donations.

No organization will be excluded from future considerationfaith-based or non-faith-based, Chick-fil-A President and COO Tim Tassopoulos said in a statement to VICE.

BET shares a list of folks to boycott:

The 2020 presidential race has kicked off, and as candidates fight to see who will make it on the final ticket, money starts to flood in to support their campaign efforts. We compiled a list in 2016 of all the companies that gave money to Donald Trump’s campaign and essentially helped elect him by funding his entire campaign, and we’ve got you again this time around.

Chrissy Teigen, other celebrities and social media users are bringing awareness to and calling for the cancellation of companies that support Donald Trump and his campaign efforts. Whether it be through donations or fundraising events, some heavy hitters, and even entry level employees, from major corporations that affect our day-to-day lives are showing their support for Trump’s 2020 re-election.

This viral Twitter thread contains a summary of some of those companies:

Congress Should Vote Yes To Lower Drug Prices

I am an older American, and I want my members of Congress to address skyrocketing prescription drug prices. There are bipartisan proposals in Congress to fix this – so this is the moment to finally enact legislation into law.

I am demanding that my members on Congress vote YES on a bill that lowers drug prices. I take maintenance drugs daily, and lowering the drug prices is just the right thing to do.

Cheney Ponders 2024 Bid After Losing Wyoming Gop Primary

Steve Peoples And Mead Gruver

Associated Press

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., speaks Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at a primary Election Day gathering in Jackson, Wyo. Cheney lost to challenger Harriet Hageman in the primary.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney was increasingly open on Wednesday about considering a 2024 presidential campaign after soundly losing a Republican primary to a challenger backed by former President Donald Trump.

Speaking to NBC in the wake of her loss, the third-term congresswoman called Trump a very grave threat and risk to our republic, and said defeating him will require a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats and independents and thats what I intend to be part of.

She declined to say if she would run for president but conceded its something that Im thinking about.

The primary results and the more than 35-point margin of her defeat were a powerful reminder of the GOPs rapid shift to the right. A party once dominated by national security-oriented, business-friendly conservatives like her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, now belongs to Trump, animated by his populist appeal and, above all, his denial of defeat in the 2020 election.

I have said since Jan. 6 that I will do whatever it takes to ensure Donald Trump is never again anywhere near the Oval Office and I mean it,” she said during her concession speech on Tuesday.

With Cheneys loss, Republicans who voted to impeach Trump are going extinct.

The Rise Of Chick-fil-A

Athletes from North Dakota were served chicken sandwiches from the fast food chain whose CEO continually donates to anti-LGBTQ causes.

For the second time this year, Donald Trump has invited an athletic team to the White House and boasted about serving them fast food. But this time, chicken sandwiches from the virulently anti-LGBTQ company Chick-fil-A were arranged on silver platters for champions on the North Dakota State Bison football team Monday, according to CNN.

“We could’ve had chefs, we could have, but we had fast food — because I know you people, Trump said told the athletes.

“Chick-fil-A, they say? Chick-fil-A,” Trump repeated as he gestured to the sandwiches.

In January, a surreal video of Trump extolling the virtues of great American food from Wendys, Burger King, and McDonalds that he served to members of the Clemson University Tigers went viral along with photos of Trump posing in the White House dining room between silver trays loaded with burgers and a candelabra.

When the White House hosted the Clemson team, Trump told his guests that he served them fast food as a result of the government shutdown. This time, he implied that he chose to serve fast food in order to support American companies.

“We like American companies, OK?” Trump told the athletes on Monday.

Chick-fil-A also shared a message penned by company CEO Dan Cathy.

“‘I am tired.’ Ive heard this phrase too many times in my private conversations with black friends and colleagues, in the last 72 hours,” Cathy began. “What I have come to understand is that they are tired of the violence, abuse and injustice.

“They are tired, because no amount of kneeling or marching seems to truly address what has ailed our country for generations: A controverted view of race, which is sometimes overt and sometimes subtle but always destructive,” the CEO continued.

Cathy explained that he’s speaking out, despite the criticism he believes his words may receive, because it’s no longer “OK to remain silent about the issues that now so publicly confront our nation.”

“There are countless academics and analysts who have written about how our democratic capitalism benefits only a few hundred incredibly wealthy families, individuals and corporations, so that the American dream is now reserved almost exclusively for them and their descendants,” he continued.

Here Are The Ceos And Companies That Support Trumpand Biden

As we take a breather between the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention , I thought it would be a good time to look into big business and the candidates, which executives and companies were supporting and donating to Trump, which to Biden and why.

First, when it comes to money, Trump is outraising Biden, says Sarah Bryner, research director at the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks and analyzes money in politics. Primarily his lead is in getting money from small donors. Biden is outraising Trump in money from the financial sector, and collecting a great deal of money from other businesses as well.

Which is unusual, because generally speaking CEOs and their ilk are favorably inclined to support Republican candidates, . According to a recent research paper put out by the National Bureau of Economic Research, 57.7% of large company CEOs consistently donated to Republicans, while only 18.6% donated to Democrats, with the rest leaning toward neither party.

However, Trump is no ordinary Republican, these are not ordinary times, plus Biden is hardly a Molotov-cocktail-throwing socialist.

The president isnt going to get nothing, Thornell says. But when it comes to executives, he could have had more.

Having said that, lets take a look at some of the presidents business supporters:

All of us have our reasons for supporting one politician or the other. Billionaires too.

Fans Call Out Dababy For Supporting Chick

Trump Jr. Mocks LGBTQ College Students Over Chick

DaBaby finds himself on the wrong end of fan criticism once again.

On Wednesday morning , the Charlotte, N.C. rapper posted a video to his Twitter account of himself lovably caressing and sniffing a bag of Chick-fil-A food. Shortly after, fans began bashing the rapper because of rumors the fast-food restaurant chain donated to President Donald Trump over the last few years.

For his part, DaBaby didnt appear to know why people were angry with his post. Upon recognizing the backlash, he followed up with this tweet: Damn I aint know niggas couldnt eat chic fila during the protests . He aslo tweeted, Yall be bored as hell on this bitch huh ?

Plenty of people on social media tweeted him claims that the chicken spot supports Trump. They gave millions to trumps campaign, wrote one Twitter user. Another wrote: Is that a Trump donation Mr. Baby?

While many put DaBaby on blast for not realizing Chick-fil-As supposed Trump connections, some just suggested that him posting the video was tone-deaf given the large-scale protests that have spread around the country after the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died after a police officer pressed their knee against his neck for over eight minutes on May 25.

Real talk, we dont want to see your chick fil a on the TL right now, wrote one Twitter user. Its a lot going on in the World right now if you didnt know.

Some clearly benefited from having a friend in the White House. Miriam Adelson received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Kelcy Warren, chief executive of Energy Transfer Partners, got clearance for his Dakota Access Pipeline, as well as a seat on the board of trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Harold Hamm, the oil baron, became an informal advisor. Linda McMahon, who is married to WWE Chief Executive Vince McMahon, accepted a role as head of the Small Business Administration, before moving on to chair a pro-Trump super-PAC named America First Action.

On average, the donors contributed about $285,000 to the Trump campaign and its joint-fundraising committees, which split their hauls with the Republican Party. About 9% of Trumps billionaire donors, however, gave less than $5,000. At least 19 also donated to pro-Trump super-PACs. Unlike other types of political committees, super-PACs can accept unlimited amounts of money. The Adelsons, for instance, gave $90 million to a pro-Trump super-PAC called Preserve America. Marvel Entertainment billionaire Isaac Perlmutter and his wife, Laura, gave $21 million to America First. Kelcy Warren donated $10 million to the same group.

Theres A Difference Between Ignorance And Stupidity

There is a tremendous difference between ignorance and stupidity. There is nothing wrong with being ignorant as it is a condition that can be corrected by education. All of us are ignorant regarding many things at different times in our lives hence the expression I was ignorant of the fact until. But once you learn the facts you are no longer ignorant and this education process goes on throughout our lifetime.

The impeachment hearings should have been such an educational moment for congressional Republicans. They, and the American people, heard damning testimony regarding Donald Trumps corrupt attempt to use Americas foreign policy for his personal political aims. Trumps actions set off alarms across the U.S. national security and foreign policy apparatus.

As Trumps lies continue to change, his congressional supporters are forced to update their defense of his corrupt and illegal behavior. In an article published in the Washington Post on Nov 22 titled The 24 defenses Trumps allies have floated on Ukraine and impeachment by JM Rieger, over the last two months Republican lawmakers and Trump allies have floated no fewer than 24 defenses of the president. It is amazing how some lawmakers have moved from the There was no quid pro quo defense to Even if there was a quid pro quo, it wasnt a corrupt quid pro quo to Trump is incapable of a quid pro quo among other excuses.
