The newest addition to the brand is Trump International Hotel Washington D.C. Its existence in the capital, just down the street from the White House, makes its ownership status politically contentious.
The hotel itself is historic. It was constructed in 1899 as the capital’s main post office and became known as the Old Post Office. Architectural preservationists saved this gracious landmark from the wrecking ball.

Former U.S. president Donald Trumps family hotel company has reached a deal to sell the rights to its Washington, D.C., hotel for US$375-million, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Miami-based investment firm CGI Merchant Group is in contract talks to acquire the lease, the newspaper said.
The Trump International Hotel is in a historic building a few blocks from the White House that the Trump Organization leases from the U.S. government. The hotel has been a popular gathering spot for Trump supporters and foreign dignitaries.
The newspaper said CGI intends to remove the Trump name and has reached an agreement with Hilton Worldwide Holdings to have the property managed and branded by Hiltons Waldorf Astoria group.
The Trump organization, CGI Merchant and Hilton did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment on Sunday.
Last month, the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform said newly obtained government documents raised troubling questions about the hotel.
The hotel is in the citys second-tallest structure, after the Washington Monument. The building previously housed the U.S. Post Office Department headquarters.

Many More Trump Tower Projects Have Been Canceled
Like the tower in Moscow, a number of Trump projects have never come to fruition. Over the course of his real-estate career, Trump has planned to build towers in Philadelphia, Rio de Janeiro, and Tampa, Florida.
Though some of these projects have been mired in conflict, none compare to the Trump Tower Moscow scandal.
On January 20, Giuliani quoted Trump as saying that the tower’s negotiations were “going on from the day I announced to the day I won.” A day later, he said were “hypothetical.”
Text messages acquired by BuzzFeed show a conversation between Cohen and his associate Felix Sater that suggested the project had the green light by May 2016 almost a year after Trump declared his candidacy for president.
“Let’s make this happen and build a Trump Moscow,” Sater wrote in an email to Cohen. “And possibly fix relations between the countries by showing everyone that commerce business are much better and more practical than politics.”

Unfortunately for those that live in southern or central United States, there is no current opportunity to experience a Trump hotel without a lengthy journey — the closest hotels are in Florida, Chicago or Las Vegas.
