Roughly Half Of Americans Approve Of What Biden Has Done So Far
About half of Americans 49 percent said they approve of how Biden has served as president so far, less than two months into his presidency, according to the latest poll. But as was the case with his predecessor, whose last year in office was marred by the pandemic, much of that support comes from people who identify as members of his own party. Among Democrats, Bidens approval rating was 87 percent. But only 11 percent of Republicans and43 percent of independents said they approved of the president.

Another 42 percent of Americans disapprove of what Biden has done so far as president, including 81 percent of Republicans and 43 percent of independents.
Still, Biden currently has a higher job approval rating than former President Donald Trump ever reached during his four years in the White House, according to Marist polling data. And support for Biden seems to be growing. In this latest poll, 52 percent of Americans said they had a favorable impression of him. Thats up from 41 percent in October 2019 in the midst of Trumps first impeachment. Since then, Biden has inched up in favorability.
Republicans in Congress face steeper job disapproval, with 64 percent of Americans saying they do not like what they are seeing, an increase of 6 percentage points over January 2019, including 38 percent of Republicans and 85 percent of Democrats.

BILLIONS AND BILLIONS The Facebook whistleblower whose disclosures have shaken the worlds largest social network has drawn some powerful behind-the-scenes help from a big player in the online world: Pierre Omidyar, the billionaire tech critic who founded eBay.
Omidyars financial support, which was previously unreported, has provided a boost to Frances Haugen and the public relations operation thats helping her take on one of the worlds most powerful companies, Emily Birnbaum writes. This gives Haugen an edge that many corporate whistleblowers lack as she warns lawmakers, regulators and media organizations on both sides of the Atlantic that Facebook is endangering society by putting profits before people. And it shows once again that big money exists on all sides of the tech debate in Washington a fight in which former Silicon Valley insiders have become some of the industrys most devoted foes.
Omidyars global philanthropic organization Luminate is handling Haugens press and government relations in Europe, and his foundation last year gave $150,000 to Whistleblower Aid, the nonprofit organization that is providing Haugens legal representation and advice.
And Haugens top PR representative in the U.S., former Obama spokesperson Bill Burton, runs public affairs for the nonprofit Center for Humane Technology, an advocacy organization that receives funding from Omidyar. Haugen appeared on a Center for Humane Technology podcast earlier this month.
The Sample And Margin Of Error
Pollsters cant realistically contact every American adult throughout the country and ask their opinion on a given issue. Instead, they try to contact a representative sampleusually anywhere between 1,000 and 2,000 individualsthat accurately represents the countrys population as a whole. Pollsters, with the help of statisticians, demographers, and data experts, use a variety of techniques to create a representative sample. This typically involves using probability formulas and algorithms to ensure random sampling and to increase the likelihood of contacting an accurate cross-section of the U.S. adult population. Some pollsters also create panels of respondents that they believe reflect the actual population and poll them repeatedly over a span of time. These polls are usually called tracking polls. Oftentimes, pollsters weigh their respondents to account for various demographic measurements. For example, a pollster might weigh more heavily the responses from a specific demographic group if that group was poorly represented in the random sample in relation to the countrys estimated demographic composition. The same might be done if a group appears to be overrepresented.

Polls Put Trumps Approval Rating Lower
Despite the recent decline in Biden’s approval, Trump’s ratings were lower during his time in office.
“Biden’s approval rating has clearly taken a turn for the worse in the past several weeks, but he is still faring better than Trump at this point in their presidencies,” Burden said. “Trump had one of the lowest and steadiest approval ratings of any modern president.”
FiveThirtyEight put the polling average for Trump’s approval rating at 38.8% on Sept. 9, 2017, his first year in office. The lowest point of his term came on Dec. 16, 2017, with an average approval rate of 36.4%.
This claim is also wrong looking only at the YouGov poll.
YouGov reported Trumps approval rating never increased far above 40% and reached a term low of 34% in a poll conducted Nov. 10-14, 2017.
In other words, Trump’s low is well below Biden’s current level in YouGov polling.
According to Gallup, Trumps approval rating ranged between 34% and 49% over the course of his presidency. Trump hit the lower end of that range in January, following the insurrection at the Capitol.
Women Give Biden His Lead Over Trump
Female support is the reason Biden leads Trump in the current head-to-head match-up among registered voters. The gender differences in support are sizable: as of today, if the election were only among men, Trump would have a narrow lead, and if it were only among women, there would be a Biden landslide.
Much of that gender difference is because gender differences in party identification exist, but among those who dont identify with either party, men give Trump a 15-point lead over Biden, while Independent women give Biden a five-point edge.
However, when Biden voters are asked whom they expect to win, more than a quarter say they dont know, and a few now expect a loss for the Democrat. Nearly all the presidents supporters expect him to be re-elected. Many voterseven those who say they will vote for Bidendubious about his ability to win in November.
Several reasons stand out: continued approval of Trumps handling of the economy, even as a majority see the country in recession the slowness of many of those who supported Sanders to commit to Biden and the charge of sexual assault made by a former Biden staffer, though as of now womens support gives him his lead. Not to mention that most presidents running for re-election usually win .

Voter Engagement And Candidate Preferences
Just as Biden holds an advantage over Trump among all registered voters in the current survey, his lead over Trump looks similar across a variety of voter engagement metrics ranging from about 8 to 12 percentage points.
Biden has a lead among voters who have thought a lot about the election , as well as among those who say it really matters who wins the presidential election this November .
The Democratic candidate also leads Trump among those who say they are extremely motivated to vote, and among those who say they follow what is going on in government and public affairs most of the time .
And among validated voters voters whose record of voting in the presidential election were matched to a state-administered voter file in the two most recent national elections, Biden outperforms Trump among each group: 8 percentage points among 2016 validated voters and 12 points among 2018 validated voters .

Forty-eight percent of respondents say they have a positive view of Trump compared to 46 percent who say they have a favorable opinion of his successor. Bidens favorability is slightly underwater, however: 49 percent of those surveyed said they have an unfavorable view of the current president, while slightly less 47 percent report an unfavorable opinion of Trump.
The findings are a remarkable shift for Biden, who repeatedly outperformed Trumps favorability numbers throughout the early months of his presidency.
But multiple crises, including a surge in new COVID-19 infections in recent months and the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, have bruised public perceptions of Biden.
Fifty-one percent of respondents now say Trump was a better president than Biden, while 49 percent prefer the White Houses current occupant, the poll shows.
Since Trump lost the popular vote by 5 points, Trump getting 51 percent as a better president is actually an improvement from Election Day.

How Sanders Supporters Are Reacting To The Allegations
Women who supported Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders are more likely than male supporters to say they now are voting for Biden. Four in five female Sanders voters, but just three-quarters of male Sanders voters say they will vote for Biden. But the allegations of sexual assault against Biden appear to resonate most strongly with those who supported Sanders.
Half of Sanders’ supporters report that the allegations, if proven, are disqualifying. But even more of them believe the allegations of sexual assault made by more than a dozen women against Trump, if proven, are also disqualifying.
The problem Biden has is getting a firm commitment from Democratic voters who hoped for a Sanders nomination . That isnt a new issue: it also was seen in last weeks Economist/YouGov Poll. This week, although 78 percent of Sanders voters say they will vote for Biden , 17 percent nearly one in five arent sure, or will vote for a third-party candidate or wont vote at all.

President Donald Trump leads former Vice President Joe Biden with the support of 50% of the states likely voters to Bidens 45% in the 2020 race for president, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.
The Republicans Trump and his running mate, Vice President Mike Pence had strong support from white and male voters, while the Democrats, Biden and U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, are the favorites of female , Black and Hispanic voters in Texas.
Among Republican voters, 92% favor Trump, while 96% of Democratic voters said theyll vote for Biden. The states independent voters prefer Biden, 45%-37%, over Trump.
Despite the dramatic swings in events and issues during 2020, the contest for the hearts and minds of Texas voters has changed little in the race for the nations top elected office. The latest poll is a case in point the survey was conducted during a period that included the first presidential debate and Trumps hospitalization for COVID-19. Even so, the result is in line with previous UT/TT surveys. In February, a UT/TT Poll found Trump ahead of Biden 47%-43% in what was then a hypothetical head-to-head race, because the Democrats had not chosen their nominee. In April, Trump led 49%-44%, and in June, 48%-44%.

Polls Show Biden’s Approval Rating Sliding To New Lows

President Joe Bidens honeymoon with the American people is over.
As many Americans disapprove of Bidens job performance as approve, according to two new polls out Sunday a precipitous decline for the new president after he spent his first half-year in the White House with high job ratings.
Half of Americans, 50 percent, approve of the way Biden is handling his job as president in the CBS News poll but the same number, 50 percent, disapprove of Biden. In the NBC News poll, Bidens approval rating is 49 percent, compared to 48 percent disapproval.
Both polls show declines in views of Biden, whose presidency has been besieged by twin crises in recent weeks: a resurgence of the coronavirus domestically, and the rocky withdrawal of U.S. military personnel and other Americans from Afghanistan ahead of Bidens looming deadline. Bidens approval rating slid 8 points in the CBS poll since July, and its down 4 points since the last NBC News survey, in April.
But Bidens slide is troubling news for Democrats, who have only narrow majorities in Congress that are increasingly imperiled in next years midterm elections.

What About The Debt
Biden inherited substantial debt and deficit from the Trump administration. Despite promises to reduce the national debt, Trump, the self-proclaimed king of debt, instigated tax cuts that caused an expansive gap with the national debt rising by almost $7.8trn creating the third-biggest deficit increase of any presidential administration.
Unlike Trump, Biden has raised taxes in a move that Donovan says is typical for Democrats. He believes that a more balanced approach would work better for investors: They have got to meet somewhere in the middle. This proposed increase of payroll tax on $400,000 12.4% is misguided and should never be passed. That is unnecessarily taking money from people who have earned it.
For such a rigorous spending plan though, Edwards believes that tax rises are inevitable if there is to be meaningful progress on long-term issues facing the US. The ambition for this administration is to increase federal spending across a range of initiatives and to pay for much of this by increasing corporate income taxes from 21% to 28% and to increase personal income tax for everyone earning more than $400,000 per year by increasing the rates of income, payroll and capital gains taxes,” he says. “None of this has yet happened and the next few months will be crucial.

New Poll: Trump Now More Popular Than Biden
More bad news for Joe Biden.
According to a new poll, Donald Trump is more popular than Joe Biden.
The poll found that Trump has a 52% approval among Americans while Biden is only at 51%.

Former President Donald Trump is more popular with U.S. voters than President Joe Biden, according to a Rasmussen poll released on Friday.
Fifty-one percent of voters have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of Biden compared to 52 percent who have a somewhat favorable opinion of Trump. More people have an unfavorable view of Biden than Trump .
This pushes back against the Mainstream Medias narrative that Joe Biden is more popular than Donald Trump.
Biden has also seen much smaller crowds than Trump.
