Trump Approval Remains Stable In New Nbc Poll With Republicans Unmoved After Capitol Violence
WASHINGTON Donald Trump is the only president in history to be impeached twice this time for his role in encouraging a deadly assault on the Capitol by his supporters but he is poised to leave office with a job approval rating that is fairly typical of his entire time in office.
A new NBC News poll found that 43 percent of voters nationwide gave Trump a positive job approval rating, just barely down from 45 percent who said the same before the November election and the 44 percent who approved of his performance shortly after he took office in 2017.

Real Clear Politics Trump Approval Rating: 408 Percent
In mid-September, Real Clear Politicswhich tracks numerous polls to find an averagefound the president to have a 40.8 percent approval rating, compared to 53.6 percent who disapproved of him.
The number was a downturn for Trump, who Real Clear Politics found had a 42.9 percent approval rating in mid-July, a notch higher than his 42.4 percent approval rating the month before.
The website found that the presidents approval rating has been declining since late August, amid criticism of his handling of Sen. John McCains death and guilty pleas by his former lawyer Michael Cohen and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Bidens Approval Rating Is Trumps In Reverse
Support from a slim majority might be all President Biden can expect and maybe its all he needs.

President Biden entered the White House last month with a broadly positive approval rating but well shy of the two-thirds of Americans who expressed support for his former boss, Barack Obama, when he took office 12 years ago.
In fact, Bidens net approval rating is lower than that of any incoming president since the dawn of modern polling, except for his predecessor, Donald Trump. Its just another clear sign that weve entered a new era of partisanship: Media fragmentation and the hard-line politics it has helped foster may make it impossible for any leader to become a true consensus figure.
But it also bears noting that Bidens approval rating is basically a reverse image of Trumps. In addition to being loathed by Republicans and embraced by Democrats, hes firmly in positive territory among independents who had consistently disapproved of Trumps performance.
A Monmouth University poll out last week found that 54 percent of Americans gave Bidens performance positive marks, including nine in 10 Democrats and a plurality of independents, who approved by a 17-percentage-point margin . But among Republicans, his numbers were upside down. Just 15 percent approved, and 70 percent disapproved.

Tarnished by last weeks riot at the Capitol, Donald Trump is ending his presidency with his lowest-ever poll numbers.
A new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll pegs Trumps approval at just 34 percent, the lowest in four years of tracking opinions of the presidents job performance. More than six in 10 voters 63 percent disapprove.
That matches other polls conducted over the past week showing Trumps approval rating sliding roughly 10 points following the Capitol riots which Democrats and some Republicans say Trump incited with his false and bellicose rhetoric about the 2020 presidential election.
For nearly four years, Trumps approval ratings have been extraordinarily stable, ranging between the high 30s and high 40s. Trumps denial of the election results and the sacking of the Capitol, however, have managed to do what a failed effort to repeal Obamacare, the white-supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Va., impeachment and other scandals couldnt: erode his once-durable support to new lows.
The drop among independents was similar: Fewer than three in 10 independent voters now approve of Trump 29 percent, down from 38 percent in December.

How Do Americans View Bidens Handling Of The Pandemic And The Economy
Most Americans think Biden is handling the coronavirus pandemic far better than Trump. Sixty-two percent approve of how Biden has managed the U.S. response so far. Another 30 percent say they disapprove.

The publics approval of Bidens actions far exceeds that earned by Trumps leadership during the pandemic. His highest approval rating was 18 points lower, at 44 percent in March 2020, the same month the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic and Trump labeled it a public health emergency. From there, his approval on handling the pandemic dropped as low as 37 percent, recovering slightly to 39 percent by the time he left office in January.
But Americans have less faith in Bidens ability to heal the nations wounded economy compared to Trump. While 46 percent of U.S. adults approve of how Biden has managed the economy, another 41 percent do not approve. During Trumps last days in office, half of Americans said they approved of the former presidents handling of the economy, a sentiment thatTrump leveraged throughout his presidency and in his 2020 campaign for a second term.
Keanu Adams, 25, of Vacaville, California, said he voted for Biden and hopes the president recognizes the country needs more than public health and economic fixes right now.
The nation needs to uproot systemic problems to address what is really wrong, Adams said.
Allegations Of Inciting Violence
Research suggests Trump’s rhetoric caused an increased incidence of hate crimes. During his 2016 campaign, he urged or praised physical attacks against protesters or reporters. Since then, some defendants prosecuted for hate crimes or violent acts cited Trump’s rhetoric in arguing that they were not culpable or should receive a lighter sentence. In May 2020, a nationwide review by ABC News identified at least 54 criminal cases from August 2015 to April 2020 in which Trump was invoked in direct connection with violence or threats of violence by mostly white men against mostly members of minority groups. On January 13, 2021, the House of Representatives impeached Trump for incitement of insurrection for his actions prior to the storming of the U.S. Capitol by a violent mob of his supporters who acted in his name.

President Bidens approval ratings are not good. According to FiveThirtyEights averages of recent polls, Biden is less popular at this point in his presidency than any modern president, save one: Donald Trump. Trump, of course, left office having never seen an approval rating north of 50 percent in most polls.
Not all of that was Trumps fault. He was the second president to serve in an era in which presidential approval ratings are bound by sharp partisan polarization. The first was Barack Obama, who, after a brief honeymoon period in 2009, quickly saw his approval ratings defined primarily by how much he was loved by Democrats and hated by Republicans. When Trump was elected, that relationship flipped, but the effect was the same. And now, Biden, who through October saw the second-biggest partisan approval gap an 84-point difference between the parties in Gallups history.
The record is 85 points, held by Trump in 2020.
On Monday afternoon, the Economists G. Elliott Morris observed that this massive partisan divide was probably here to stay. Biden campaigned on the prospect of not being as polarizing as Trump, but we have learned that such things are increasingly out of the control of presidents. Nothing Trump did was going to appeal to Democrats, not that he tried very much. Nothing Biden is likely to do is going to appeal much to Republicans.
After Capitol Attack Trumps Approval Rating Slides In Us Polls
A majority now supports banning Trump from public office amid a sharp partisan divide over his role in the riot
After four years in the White House, Donald Trump is leaving the United States presidency with low job approval ratings following the January 6 attack by his supporters on the US Capitol, according to three new public opinion surveys.
One poll showed an overwhelming majority of Americans opposed the mob violence at the Capitol and two suggest most people think Trump should be prevented from running for office again.
At the same time, however, a sharp partisan divide remains over the outgoing presidents conduct and whether he shares blame for inciting the riot at the Capitol. And Trumps base of supporters believe Republicans politicians should still follow his lead.
The new findings come from surveys released on Friday by the Pew Research Center and Washington Post-ABC News, and on Thursday by Reuters-Ipsos.
Trumps approval rating dropped to 29 percent in the latest Pew Research Center survey, an all-time low.
Most US adults 89 percent in the Washington Post-ABC News survey oppose the actions of the people who stormed the US Capitol last week as Congress was meeting to certify Joe Bidens victory in the 2020 presidential election.
The Washington Post-ABC News poll found that 56 percent of Americans favour disqualifying Trump from ever holding office in the future.

Trumps Approval Rating Dropping Among Independents Republicans
As part of a January national survey of likely voters, Data for Progress finds that a majority of voters support efforts to impeach the president following a deadly insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th. On the 12th of January, House Democrats officially introduced articles of impeachment against the president for his role in inciting the deadly attack, and a vote on impeachment is expected next week. As part of the same survey, we also measured the presidents job approval ratings among likely voters. We find that disapproval of the president has grown, with many Republicans and Trump 2020 voters now signaling that they disapprove of the job hes doing.
Trump Approval Rating By State 2021
The presidential job approval ratings in the U.S. were introduced in the late 1930s by George Gallup to gauge public support for the president during their term. Approval ratings are determined by polling given to a sample of people.
Like most surveys, poll results may be inaccurate due to samples that self-select. However, statisticians generally accept the approval rating as a factual indicator of the peoples feelings about the president.
As of April 2020, President Trumps approval rate is 46.0% and his disapproval is at 49.6%.

Why Donald Trumps Approval Rating Is So High Among Republicans
As the U.S. experienced mass unrest over police brutality and racial inequality, a huge spike in unemployment, and on the current count more than 116,000 coronavirus deaths, President Donald Trumps approval rating took an unsurprising turn for the worse.
But there is one group of voters who have remained squarely in Trumps corner in spite of the triple crises facing the nation: Republicans.
Over the past few months, the president has frequently gloated about his high party-approval figures. Tweeting about his approval rating among Republicans on Tuesday night, Trump wrote: 96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Thank you!
As The Washington Post reported at the end of May, the presidents evidence-free claim to have a 96 percent approval rating among GOP voters is not grounded in actual polling data.
Nevertheless, his rating among the Republican base has been consistently high over the last three months.
A new Morning Consult/Politico poll of 653 Republicans found 83 percent approved of Trumps record, a fall of only 5 percentage points from the pollsters March survey. The latest poll, conducted between June 12 to 14, has a 2 percentage point margin of error.
So how has the presidents approval rating among Republicans stayed so high, even amid unrest over race relations, unemployment, and public health?
Nbc News Poll: Steve Kornacki Breaks Down Bidens Approval Rating
Its the first time since July 2019 when party supporters have outnumbered Trump supporters in our poll, and its also the first time that party supporters have reached 50 percent on this question.
Strikingly, these numbers are coming as the perception of Trumps pull within his party couldnt be stronger.
GOP politicians are still trekking to Mar-A-Lago. Theyre clamoring for his endorsement. And House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy continues to hug Trump, even after what happened on Jan. 6.
But close to 100 days after leaving office, Trumps standing nationally as well within his own party is weaker today than it was three months ago.
Now we know what youre probably thinking: Since the 2020 polls understated Trumps support, isnt this poll maybe also understating his current support?
And you could be right.
But say you improved his favorable/unfavorable score by 5 points in both directions to 37 percent positive, 50 percent negative.
Thats still a rough set of numbers for someone many Republicans continue to view as the leader of their party.
Here are some other numbers to chew on from our new NBC News poll: There is a significant difference in political attitudes between those who consume conservative media and those who consume everything else.
