National Association Of Manufacturers
The National Association of Manufacturers had agreed with Trump’s plan to lower U.S. manufacturing costs, which are significantly higher than in other countries. NAM wanted Trump to further reduce regulations on manufacturing companies, as it pays nearly twice what companies in other industries do. This raises the price of American-made goods.
On the other hand, NAM disagreed with Trump’s protectionism. Other countries raise tariffs in return, which reduced American exports to those countries, even prior to the pandemic. It put a brake on U.S. growth and raised import prices for American consumers.

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday said it is “so bad” for the country and the future of the presidency that one of his former White House counsels is cooperating with the congressional investigation into the Capitol riot.
“Why would a future President of the United States want to have candid and important conversations with his White House Counsel if he thought there was even a small chance that this person, essentially acting as a ‘lawyer’ for the Country, may some day be brought before a partisan and openly hostile Committee in Congress, or even a fair and reasonable Committee, to reveal the inner secrets of foreign policy or other important matters,” Trump wrote on his social-media platform, Truth Social. “So bad for the USA!”
Pat Cipollone reached a deal on Wednesday to offer further testimony to the House committee, multiple reports said. The extent to which Cipollone would cooperate with the panel following its decision to subpoena him last week is unclear. Cipollone’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

WASHINGTON After announcing her departure from the Trump administration in the middle of the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, Sarah Matthews, a deputy White House press secretary, kept running into the same question as she worked her contacts to find a new job: What was it like?
Ms. Matthews turned the answer to that question into a strategy to succeed in a job market not exactly clamoring for former Trump administration aides presenting her experience in President Donald J. Trumps press office as essentially a daily lesson in crisis communications, and a marketable asset.
In general, you would think that working in the Trump White House would kind of show how battle-tested you are, Ms. Matthews, who plans to stay in Republican politics, said in an interview. It shows that you can survive one of the most high-pressure jobs.
Even famously friendly landing spots are at least temporarily closing their gates: Kayleigh McEnany, Mr. Trumps last press secretary, was negotiating a job at Fox News and the word was it was for a big contract when those talks were put on pause in the weeks after the election.
So Ms. McEnany has moved to Florida.
Strengthen Us Competitiveness Against Mexico
Trump has many initiatives that involve Mexico.
Trump successfully renegotiated the North American Free Trade Agreement in 2018. The new treaty, now called the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement , was officially ratified by all three parties in early 2020. Its goal was to bring back some U.S. manufacturing jobs sent across the border in previous years. The most significant change is that auto companies must manufacture more parts in the NAFTA trade area.
Trump promised to reduce the number of workers coming from Mexico by completing the wall along the 1,954-mile border. Legislative initiatives from the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations led to more than 650 miles of completed wall. Trump added another 371 miles, with a goal to complete 450 miles by the end of 2020.
Nearly half of all current unauthorized immigrants crossed the border with visas and then stayed after the permits expired.

Reduce Corporate And Investment Taxes
Trump’s tax plan, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, lowered the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%. This was the lowest rate since 1939.
This change may not be as dramatic as it sounds, though. Most corporations make good use of legal deductions.
The Congressional Budget Office found that a more cost-effective method would be to cut business payroll taxes and increase unemployment aid. Governments should target any stimulus to small businesses, which produce 65% of all new private-sector jobs.

As Rollins and others go about imagining the future of federal bureaucracy, there is also the possibility, as unlikely as it seems, that Trump decides against making another run for office or, that he does and doesnt win the primary. Hogan Gidley, Trumps former deputy press secretary and the director of AFPIs center on election integrity, said no matter what Trump decides, the group is uniquely qualified to serve the next America First administration, whether or not it is led by Trump.
What we have are people who were in the room when President Trump made decisions. No one else has that, Gidley said.

US President Donald Trump is under fire for the length of his daily schedule, but he would not be the first commander-in-chief to forgo a nine-to-five routine.
Mr Trump takes his first meeting of the day at 11:00 after three hours of “Executive Time”, according to a White House schedule leaked to news site Axios.
This is largely designed to accommodate the time that he spends in the White House residence watching TV and tweeting, according to the report.
The White House responded that Mr Trump spends this time making important calls and consistently “puts in long hours and long days nearly every day of the week all year long”.
The Axios report highlights a long-standing criticism that Mr Trump spends too much time in front of the television.

Waking Up Is Hard Enough
I’ve been experimenting with different morning routines for the past year or so, ever since I consulted a sleep doctor for a story. Sometimes I wake up at 6 a.m. and head to a yoga class other times I wake up at 7 and start getting ready for work.
On the first day of the experiment, I woke up to a 5:30 alarm, dragged myself to the couch, opened my laptop, and found a YouTube channel with streaming cable news.
An hour later, I woke up again. Apparently, I’d fallen asleep while watching the news not very presidential, I know. I brewed a cup of black tea and made it through another few hours.

Washington, United States: Donald Trump returned to Washington on Tuesday for the first time since leaving the White House 18 months ago, delivering a fiery speech sprinkled with strong hints he may run for president again in 2024.
The 76-year-old Trump stopped short of declaring his candidacy, but laid out what he believed should be the priorities for the “next Republican president.”
“I always say I ran the first time and I won, then I ran a second time and I did much better,” Trump said. “We may just have to do it again. We have to straighten out our country.
“I look forward to laying out many more details in the weeks and months to come.”
Several hours before Trump took the stage at the right-wing America First Policy Institute, his former vice president, Mike Pence, who is also considering a White House run in 2024, addressed a different conservative audience in Washington.
Speaking at the Young America’s Foundation conference, Pence said Americans must look to the future not the past and played down differences with Trump.
“Elections are about the future,” Pence said. “I came today not to look backwards but to look forward.
“I don’t know that the president and I differ on issues,” he said. “But we may differ on focus.”
