Trumps Suits Are Both Made In America & Overseas Fact

Dresscode: Trump’s ties | Made in Germany

Trumps line of suits are made both in the U.S. and overseas, political fact-checkers found.

BuzzFeed compiled images of a Trump suit with a Made in Mexico label and related it to the Republicans stance on immigration and his relationship with Macys. Trump told Foxs Chris Wallace in October 2015 he never disputed that his clothing line was made in Mexico.

A post shared by President Donald J. Trump on Jul 1, 2015 at 8:21am PDT

Politifact said it actually found quite a few for sale on Amazon that were made in America, but it also found suits made in India and China. Beginning around $80 and some listed as much as $280, Amazon predominantly says the Trump suits are Imported.

When Stephanopoulos interviewed Trump, the ABC host cited Brooks Brothers as a company that makes its suits in the U.S. Well, they but they dont make here, Trump said. They dont make here, not that I see.FactCheck.org, another political fact-checking site, said Trumps assertion was not accurate.

Although many of the products sold by Brooks Brothers continue to be made overseas, the company has in recent years been reshoring back to the U.S. some of its manufacturing,FactCheck.org states.

What About Brooks Brothers

After Trump insisted that they dont even make this stuff here, Stephanopoulos cited Brooks Brothers as one company that does.

Well, they but they dont make here, Trump said. They dont make here, not that I see.

Thats not accurate. Although many of the products sold by Brooks Brothers continue to be made overseas, the company has in recent years been reshoring back to the U.S. some of its manufacturing.

Arthur Wayne, a spokesman for Brooks Brothers, told us via email that currently 100 percent of Brooks Brothers retail ties are made in our factory in Long Island City, NY approximately 85 percent of our suits are made in our factory in Haverhill, Massachusetts. and our Original Button-Down Polo Oxford shirts, made to measure shirts, and some of our luxury shirts are also made in America at our factory in Garland, NC. We also offer some accessories and other furnishings which are Made in America.

David Trumbull, a consultant and expert in textiles and U.S. manufacturing, told us Stephanopoulos was correct about the Brooks Brothers example.

In the case of Brooks Brothers, for example, as its website explains , its collection of mens ties and bow ties are made cut and piled in the U.S. out of silk, cotton and wool woven in Italy or England.

We reached out to the Trump campaign and did not hear back, but in 2011, Trump was asked why he doesnt look at having his Trump products manufactured in the U.S.

Saudis Poised To Invest In Jared Kushner Fund After Cozy Trump White House Ties: Report

Trends Reporter, HuffPost

Saudi Arabias $450 billion Public Investment Fund is negotiating with former White House aide Jared Kushner for what could be a sizeable stake in his new fund, The New York Times reported.

The potentially lucrative interest follows very favorable treatment of the kingdom by Donald Trumps White House.

Kushners appeal to the Saudis and other Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds is raising questions about ethics as Kushner seeks money from the same officials he dealt with as a representative of the U.S. government as recently as January, the Times noted.

The issue becomes even more troubling if Kushners father-in-law runs in 2024 and even wins the White House again.

He hasnt had much success so far raising money in the Middle East except with the Saudis, sources told the Times.

Kushner refused to discuss details about his new company with the Times.

The Trump White House had a particularly close relationship with the Saudi leadership, and Kushner cultivated a friendship with de facto leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Kushner arranged for Trump to make his first trip abroad to a summit in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. That same year Kushner helped negotiate a hugely controversial agreement for Saudi Arabia to buy billions of dollars worth of American weapons while the nation was bombing civilians in Yemen.

Donald Trump Blasts Companies Like Ford And Apple For Manufacturing Products Outside The United States He Even Threatened To Stop Eating Oreo Cookies After He Learned Some Production Was Moving To Mexico

But Trump does the same thing. Many of his products are made outside the United States. Most Donald J. Trump ties are made in China. Some Donald J. Trump suits are also made in China.

Donald J. Trump signature men’s dress shirts are made in China, Bangladesh or “imported,” meaning they were made abroad.

And it’s not just Donald’s products. Harvard professor and trade expert Robert Lawrence analyzed over 800 items in the Ivanka Trump fashion line. There are shoes, dresses, purses and scarves. All are “imported.”

The top five countries that America imports clothing from are China , India, Vietnam, Pakistan and Mexico.

“In a recent debate mentioned ties. But the ties made in China are just the tip of the iceberg,” says Lawrence, who served on President Bill Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisers.

Lawrence found that none of Ivanka Trump’s clothing line appears to be made exclusively in the United States and 354 items are listed as made in China.

Trump doesn’t dispute this.

“I talk about my ties in speeches. I’m open. I say my ties many times are made in China,” Trump told CNN’s Jake Tapper in July.

“It’s very hard to have apparel made in this country,” Trump said.

The issue is getting renewed scrutiny as Trump becomes the clear Republican frontrunner for president and has made trade a key 2016 campaign theme.

When Its Time To Head Back To The Office And On The Few Days When I Wear A Suit And Tie I Should Retire My Red Ties Right Unless I Want Everyone To Assume I Am A Trump Supporter Is It Possible For Any Man To Wear A Red Tie Now And Not Immediately Call To Mind The Former President Ken Newton Mass

Though the death of the tie is declared regularly especially given the pressures of both the long-term office-casual movement and our current working-from-home reality Guy Trebay, our mens wear critic, maintains that you should not count the accessory out quite yet. As he said, even if were not wearing them much during lockdown, you dont want to give up on an element of the wardrobe thats been around for 400 years.

Ties can, after all, be used to signal your club, your interests, whether you are a jokester, a brainiac or even a clown. Not to mention, as you say, political affiliation.

The question is whether the party dividing line between red and blue that has swept even the necktie into its maw will remain uppermost in everyones minds now that unity is the word of the moment . Given how central red ties were to President Trumps uniform, it is natural to think that we may now have a Pavlovian response to the color. But the fact is, red ties were a wardrobe staple long before Mr. Trump got hold of them.

Its the combination of shade and style that makes the statement of allegiance, not simply one or the other. Thats what you should keep in mind when getting dressed. Then go ahead: Tie one on.

Why Is His Dangle So Low

Now that we’ve mentioned it, you will suddenly begin to notice that POTUS’s little tip is always in the wrong place.

Town and Country magazine has confirmed that a gentleman’s tie should only extend to their belt mark.

They say that the issue could be that Mr Trump has a special way of tying his ties, which results in him having to use scotch tape to keep it in place

Exhibit A:

Some insiders say his tie length is in fact because he wears Brioni ties, which are longer than standard ties.

Most ties are 58 inches whereas Brioni ties are 59. And we all know that every inch counts, right?

Whatever Happened To Trump Neckties Theyre Over So Is Most Of Trumps Merchandising Empire

Before he ran for office, Donald Trump made millions by selling his name to adorn other peoples products. There was Trump deodorant. Trump ties. Trump steaks. Trump underwear. Trump furniture. At one time, there was even a Trump-branded urine test.

Now, almost all of them are gone.

In 2015, Trump listed 19 companies that were paying him to produce or distribute Trump-branded consumer goods.

In recent weeks, only two said that they are still selling Trump-branded goods. One is a Panamanian company selling Trump bed linens and home goods. The other is a Turkish company selling Trump furniture.

Of the rest, some Trump partners quit in reaction to campaign-trail rhetoric on immigrants and Muslims. Others said their licensing agreements had expired. Others said nothing beyond confirming that theyd stopped working with Trump. Their last Trump goods are being sold off, often at a discount: One cologne is marked down to $9.99 from $42 for a one-ounce bottle.

Success by Trump, the website says. And, below that: Clearance.

The decline of the Trump merchandise empire is another sign of how politics has changed the presidents business. On one hand, it has allowed his Mar-a-Lago Club and his D.C. hotel to monetize his political alliances, raking in money from evangelical Christian groups and Republican campaigns.

All Trump had to do was sell something that he could never run out of.

His name.

The menswear executive wasnt interested.

In fact, it wasnt enough.

Biden Ties Republican In Race For Va Governor To Trump

Deutsche Bank eager to cut Trump ties, say sources

President Joe Biden framed the Virginia governors race as a repudiation of his predecessor, tying the Republican candidate to former President Donald Trump as he campaigned for Democrat Terry McAuliffe in whats become a tight and increasingly bitter campaign.

No Republican has won statewide office in Virginia since 2009, and Biden carried it by a comfortable 10 percentage points in 2020. Yet polls have shown McAuliffe tied with Republican former business executive Glenn Youngkin with the election a week away and the presidents own popularity is on the decline.

In the final days of the race, both candidates are focused on turning out their base supporters, with Republicans pressing culture war issues prompting a debate over banning books in high school classrooms and McAuliffe, who previously served as governor from 2014 to 2018, hammering Youngkin for his ties to Trump.

Biden drove that theme home during a Tuesday night rally in Arlington, just across the Potomac River from Washington, mentioning the former president by name more frequently than Youngkin and drawing a direct line from last years presidential race to next Tuesdays election.

I ran against Donald Trump and Terry is running against an acolyte of Donald Trump, Biden said.

He charged that Youngkin not only embraces some of the essential lack of character, he endorses Donald Trumps bad ideas and bad record.

Were on the right track, but weve got more to do, Biden said.

This Story Is Part Of A Group Of Stories Called

As we sped toward downtown Hangzhou, past hulking construction projects that could each rival the skylines of most American cities, my cab driver seemed stumped. “Shengzhou? Where is that?” he asked me, amazed to encounter an American who hadn’t come to Hangzhou for its Buddhist temples or pagoda-lined West Lake. I had flown into his cosmopolitan city instead for its bus station, from which I would take a two-hour trip to a nearby town he’d never heard of. “What on earth are you doing there?”

The answer was complicated, a bit too much so to explain in my rusty Chinese. Had I been honest, I would have told him that I had arrived in Hangzhou on a journey of last resort.

Encased in Ziploc at the bottom of my shoulder bag was a Donald J. Trump-brand necktie with silver checks that I purchased just days earlier for $60 in the lobby of Trump’s flagship skyscraper on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Made in China, the tie had now traveled twice across the Pacific Ocean and, as Trump had just weeks earlier secured the Republican presidential nomination, it now carried more political weight than ever.

For more than a year, Trump’s opponents had continually seized upon his foreign-made goods to call out the hypocrisy of a campaign centering on a pledge to repatriate jobs that, in Trump’s telling, global trade had wrongfully taken from American workers.

Over the summer, I too had searched fruitlessly for Trump’s Chinese factories.

“Yes!” Lu told Jackie. “We have made these ties here.”

Donald Trump Blames China For Fact That Much Of His Gear Is ‘made In China’

Trump slams China for stealing US jobs, but his brand items are made there.

Donald Trump Products: Made in China

April 28, 2011 — Donald Trump, who has repeatedly accused China of stealing manufacturing jobs from the U.S., acknowledged today that an array of Trump-branded clothes, accessories and other products are made in China.

The real estate and casino mogul, who is considering a run for the Republican presidential nomination, blamed China for the fact that Trump ties, Trump cufflinks and even Trump teddy bears come with a “Made in China” label.

“The answer is very simple: Because of the fact that China so manipulates their currency it makes it almost impossible for American companies to compete,” Trump told ABC News.

“You see it with all of the items you are talking about. You also see it with building products. If it continues this way, America won’t have any jobs, except for taking care of the elderly.”

Asked if he ever looked at having his Trump products manufactured in the U.S., Trump said, “Always do. There are very few companies that do it because they can’t compete with the manipulation.”

Trump has made the flow of U.S. jobs overseas, especially to China, as much a centerpiece of his exploratory campaign for president as his questions about whether President Obama was born in America, saying, “The problem with our country is that we don’t make anything anymore.”
