‘iowa What A Place’: Trump Gives Some Love To The Hawkeyes And Recalls His Victory
Despite his dark message about the Biden administration, Trump was upbeat about Iowa during his visit.
“As disastrous as the Biden administration has been, no one can blame the great state of Iowa, because boy we did really we did really good here,” he said. “Iowa, what a place.”
He took the stage shortly after the University of Iowa scored a come-from-behind victory against Penn State in a game that was displayed on large screens during the rally’s pre-program.
“Hello Iowa, and congratulations to the Iowa Hawkeyes!” Trump said, kicking off his remarks. “That was a big win today!”
His appreciation for Iowa extended to Grassley, who he said “has my complete and total endorsement for reelection.”
“We have with us tonight a great American patriot, a man who truly loves Iowa loves Iowa,” Trump said. “Hes a young very young guy. Hes strong. And hes very handsome. He fights like no other. When Ive needed him for help he was always there.”
As for Gov. Kim Reynolds, who has not formally announced her reelection campaign, Trump hinted that an endorsement could be coming very soon.
“I said Kim, do you want me to endorse you tonight or later? And she said, ‘Sir, this is Chuck Grassleys night.’ How great is that?”
Allegations Of Inciting Violence
Research suggests Trump’s rhetoric caused an increased incidence of hate crimes. During his 2016 campaign, he urged or praised physical attacks against protesters or reporters. Since then, some defendants prosecuted for hate crimes or violent acts cited Trump’s rhetoric in arguing that they were not culpable or should receive a lighter sentence. In May 2020, a nationwide review by ABC News identified at least 54 criminal cases from August 2015 to April 2020 in which Trump was invoked in direct connection with violence or threats of violence by mostly white men against mostly members of minority groups. On January 13, 2021, the House of Representatives impeached Trump for incitement of insurrection for his actions prior to the storming of the U.S. Capitol by a violent mob of his supporters who acted in his name.
Former President Donald Trump Speaking At Georgia Save America Rally On Saturday
PERRY, Ga. – Former President Donald Trump plans to speak this Saturday at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry.
As he sits under a shaded canopy, Florida resident Duane Schwingel patiently waits for former President Donald Trump to arrive in Perry, Georgia for yet another Save America Rally.
Its time when the local people get to realize the bigger issues that are out there and why its important that we have a strong leader at the home, said Schwingel.
The ticketed event, scheduled for Saturday, will be held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. One rally organizer says the doors will open at 2 p.m. Between 5 and 6 p.m., several speakers including Herschel Walker and Senator Burt Jones will deliver remarks. Former President Trump has endorsed Walker for the U.S. Senate and endorsed Jones for lieutenant governor. At 7 p.m., Trump will give a speech before the crowd.

Republicans Break With Trump
While Trump’s first impeachment in 2019 brought no Republican votes in the House, at least eight House Republicans announced in advance that they would break with the party to join Democrats this time, saying Trump violated his oath to protect and defend U.S. democracy.
In the end, 10 Republicans voted to impeach.
Among them was Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, the third-ranking Republican in the House and the daughter of former vice-president Dick Cheney.
As two Republican lawmakers Washington Reps. Dan Newhouse and Jaime Herrera Beutler announced on the floor they would vote to impeach, Trump issued a new statement urging “NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind” to disrupt Biden’s ascension to the White House.
In the face of the accusations against him and with the FBI warning of more violence, Trump said, “That is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers.”
But he has repeatedly declined to take any responsibility for last week’s riots.
‘clear And Present Danger’
Trump “must go,” Pelosi said. “He is a clear and present danger to the nation we all love.”
Actual removal seems unlikely before the Jan. 20 inauguration of president-elect Biden.
Minutes after the House vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell suggested in a statement that Trump’s Senate trial will not start before Jan. 19, the chamber’s next scheduled business day.
It’s also about the time Democrats take over majority control of the Senate. The timetable essentially means McConnell is dropping the trial into the laps of Democrats.
“There is simply no chance that a fair or serious trial” could end before Biden takes office, McConnell wrote. He said it will “best serve our nation” if the government spends the coming week “completely focused on facilitating a safe inauguration and an orderly transfer of power” to Biden.
Still, McConnell did not rule out voting to convict Trump in the event of a trial. In a note to his fellow Republican senators just before the House was to begin voting, he said he is undecided.
“While the press has been full of speculation, I have not made a final decision on how I will vote and I intend to listen to the legal arguments when they are presented to the Senate,” McConnell wrote.
“I hope that the Senate leadership will find a way to deal with their Constitutional responsibilities on impeachment while also working on the other urgent business of this nation,” he said.

Russia And Related Investigations
American intelligence sources found the Russian government attempted to intervene in the 2016 presidential election to favor the election of Trump, and that members of Trump’s campaign were in contact with Russian government officials both before and after the election. In May 2017, the Department of Justice appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate “any links and/or coordination between Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump, and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation”.
During his January 2017 confirmation hearings as the attorney general nominee before the Senate, then-Senator Jeff Sessions appeared to deliberately omit two meetings he had in 2016 with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, when asked if he had meetings involving the 2016 election with Russian government officials. Sessions later amended his testimony saying he “never met with any Russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign”. Following his amended statement, Sessions recused himself from any investigation regarding connections between Trump and Russia.
House First Called For 25th Amendment
The House tried first to push Vice-President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to intervene, passing a resolution Tuesday night calling on them to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove Trump from office.
Pence made it clear he would not do so, saying in a letter to Pelosi, that it was “time to unite our country as we prepare to inaugurate president-elect Joe Biden.”
It’s far from clear if there will be the two-thirds vote in the evenly divided Senate needed to convict Trump, though at least two Republicans have called for him to “go away as soon as possible.”
The FBI warned ominously of potential armed protests by Trump loyalists ahead of Biden’s inauguration. Capitol Police urged lawmakers to be on alert. Charges of sedition are being considered for rioters.
Biden has said it’s important to ensure that the “folks who engaged in sedition and threatening the lives, defacing public property, caused great damage that they be held accountable.”
Fending off concerns that an impeachment trial would bog down his first days in office, the president-elect is encouraging senators to divide their time between his priorities of confirming his nominees and approving COVID-19 relief while also conducting the trial.

Transparency And Data Availability
The Washington Post reported in May 2017, “a wide variety of information that until recently was provided to the public, limiting access, for instance, to disclosures about workplace violations, energy efficiency, and animal welfare abuses” had been removed or tucked away. The Obama administration had used the publication of enforcement actions taken by federal agencies against companies as a way to name and shame companies that engaged in unethical and illegal behaviors.
The Trump administration stopped the Obama administration policy of logging visitors to the White House, making it difficult to tell who has visited the White House. Nathan Cortez of the Southern Methodist University‘s Dedman School of Law, who studies the handling of public data, said the Trump administration, unlike the Obama administration, was taking transparency “in the opposite direction”.

FixerRoy Cohn served as Trump’s lawyer and mentor for 13 years in the 1970s and 1980s. According to Trump, Cohn sometimes waived fees due to their friendship. In 1973, Cohn helped Trump countersue the United States government for $100 million over its charges that Trump’s properties had racial discriminatory practices. Trump and Cohn lost that case when the countersuit was dismissed and the government’s case went forward. In 1975, an agreement was struck requiring Trump’s properties to furnish the New York Urban League with a list of all apartment vacancies, every week for two years, among other things. Cohn introduced political consultant Roger Stone to Trump, who enlisted Stone’s services to deal with the federal government.
As of April 2018, Trump and his businesses had been involved in more than 4,000 state and federal legal actions, according to a running tally by USA Today.
While Trump has not filed for personal bankruptcy, his over-leveraged hotel and casino businesses in Atlantic City and New York filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection six times between 1991 and 2009. They continued to operate while the banks restructured debt and reduced Trump’s shares in the properties.
Promotion Of Conspiracy Theories
Before and throughout his presidency, Trump has promoted numerous conspiracy theories, including Obama birtherism, the Clinton Body Count theory, QAnon, and alleged Ukrainian interference in U.S. elections. In October 2020, Trump retweeted a QAnon follower who asserted that Osama bin Laden was still alive, a body double had been killed in his place, and that “Biden and Obama may have had SEAL Team Six killed.”
During and since the 2020 presidential election, Trump has promoted various conspiracy theories for his defeat including the “dead voter” conspiracy theory, and without providing any evidence he has created other conspiracy theories such as that “some states allowed voters to turn in ballots after Election Day that vote-counting machines were rigged to favor Mr Biden and even that the FBI, the Justice Department and the federal court system were complicit in an attempt to cover up election fraud.”

Trump Came In Contact With 500 People Between First Positive Test And Hospitalization: Report
Former President Trump came in contact with more than 500 people between the day he initially tested positive for COVID-19 and his eventual hospitalization, according to a report by The Washington Post.
He came in contact with people either in close proximity to him or at events, according to the report. The number, however, doesn’t include people present at his rallies.
In the time following the initial test, Trump did not take extra precautions such as mask-wearing or social distancing as preventative measures for those he came in contact with after the positive test on Sept. 26, 2020, the Post said.
The newspaper reviewed Trump’s scheduled events in the week after he tested positive to attempt to account for the number of people he may have came in contact with.
Among the events Trump attended after his initial COVID-19 positive test was a Rose Garden ceremony, packed with people, to announce his nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court and an event in the East Wing for Gold Star families who have lost loved ones to military combat.
The Post noted that many people who came in contact with Trump, including members of his staff and the press, would later test positive for the virus. Those included New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway.
Former White House chief of staff revealed the earlier positive test in his new book, “The Chief’s Chief,” and said that Trump received a negative test soon after the positive test.
