Why Is Trump So Stupid

‘trump Nation’ And Its Alternate Reality Are Even Angrier

Cuomo: Trump doubled down on dumb

I spent significant portions of the last four years chronicling the dashed hopes, unsettled dreams and gut-level fears of Trump Nation the slice of America that felt forgotten by the by Democrats and Republicans as jobs disappeared overseas and their faith in the American Dream of prosperity fizzled into paltry paychecks and dead-end jobs.

Many spoke mournfully and intelligently of an America that had vanished. In turn, I walked away enlightened and often moved by their stories. These were real people, with real problems. They did not take their cues from Tucker Carlson or Jim Jordan.

Four years of Trump Nation road trips:America divided, but in search of common ground ahead of the 2020 election | Mike Kelly

Yes, many came to believe that a failed real estate developer and faded reality TV star with a Fifth Avenue address and a penchant for factual misstatements would be their political savior. But could you blame them? For decades, both the Democratic and Republican hierarchies ignored large swaths of middle America.

Many saw Trump as a chance for change, even some measure of redemption. He promised to “Make America Great Again.” If your steel mill just shut down or your coal mining job disappeared, why wouldn’t you take a chance on Trump?

You know what happened.

It was as if something broke again for them.

Trumpism Has Entered Its Final Form

In todays Republican Party, Trump is becoming what was once unthinkableconventional, unexceptional, even something of an establishment figure.

About the author: Peter Wehner is a contributing writer at The Atlantic and a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He writes widely on political, cultural, religious, and national-security issues, and he is the author of The Death of Politics: How to Heal Our Frayed Republic After Trump.

Something happened last Saturday that was significant because it was unprecedented: Donald Trump spoke at a rally in the heart of Trump countryCullman, Alabama, which gave the incumbent president more than 88 percent of the vote in 2020and he was booed. The jeers were scattered but noticeable, enough so that Trump responded to them.

Trump had encouraged those in the audience to get vaccinated. I believe totally in your freedoms. I do. Youve got to do what you have to do, Trump said, but I recommend: Take the vaccines. I did itits good. Yet for a large number of Trump supporters in the audience, even though the former president hadnt embraced government or private-sector mandates, he had crossed a redline.

In fact, the opposite is happening.

Ann Coulter Continues Trump Attacks Calls Him Abjectly Stupid

The conservative pundit also called Trump a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar arriviste

Conservative pundit Ann Coulter continued her ongoing attacks on former president Donald Trump, calling him abjectly stupid in a podcast released Friday.

I was well familiar with what a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar, arriviste this guy was, she said to Dishcast host Andrew Sullivan about the period when she supported the Republican politician. That I knew about. The one thing I underestimated in fact, did not see at all is I had no idea how abjectly stupid the man is.

Coulter wrote In Trump We Trust, E Pluribus Awesome! ahead of the 2016 to make the case for a Trump presidency, but since then, she has publicly disparaged him repeatedly. On Sullivans podcast, she accused the former president of failing his base and failing to keep his promises. She noted that she had supported him in spite of knowing he was narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky vulgar because of his immigration policies, but felt he underperformed there.

My theory was if he doesnt build the wall, he loses reelection. He didnt build the wall he lost reelection, she said, referring to Trumps proposed wall on the southern border. I just couldnt imagine anyone could be so stupid to run on one thing and just not do it.

Xenophobes The Economically Disadvantaged

Another segment of hard-core supporters feel strongly that America is under attack by foreigners, including Central Americans crossing the southern border. They also falsely believe the Chinese sent COVID-19 to kill Americans.

Sixty years ago, these supporters would have been in the my country right or wrong camp supporting American involvement in the Vietnam War. They believe they are supporting traditional American values, free enterprise, hard work and white society against destructive change.

For these supporters, Trump promised the wall along the southern border to keep out rapists, talks often about the Chinese virus and says kind things about counter-protesters, even excusing the actions of the young man, Kyle Rittenhouse, accused of killing two people at a Black Lives Matter demonstration in Wisconsin.

A sizeable segment of Trump supporters, and the ones who often get the most attention, are the economically abandoned. When Trump was elected, some in the media were quick to dismiss his supporters as lacking education, and therefore unable to grasp that Trump lied, embellished the truth and stoked bigotry.

Thats unfair on several levels.

For one, as corporations move their manufacturing offshore and the U.S. economy relies more on high-tech jobs, the less educated have lost their jobs, whether in the coal mines of West Virginia or the industrial areas of the Midwest.

You Know Im Like A Smart Person Uh Huh

Seriously, How Dumb Is Trump? : politics

Im starting to suspect that Donald Trump may not have been right when he said, You know, Im like a smart person. The evidence continues to mount that he is far from smart so far, in fact, that he may not be capable of carrying out his duties as president.

There is, for example, the story of how Trump met with the pastors of two major Presbyterian churches in New York. I did very, very well with evangelicals in the polls, he bragged. When the pastors told Trump they werent evangelicals, he demanded to know, What are you then? They told him they were mainline Presbyterians. But youre all Christians? he asked. Yes, they had to assure him, Presbyterians are Christians. The kicker: Trump himself is Presbyterian.

Or the story of how Trump asked the editors of the Economist whether they had ever heard of the phrase priming the pump. Yes, they assured him, they had. I havent heard it, Trump continued. I mean, I just I came up with it a couple of days ago, and I thought it was good. The phrase has been in widespread use since at least the 1930s.

Im starting to suspect that Donald Trump may not have been right when he said, You know, Im like a smart person. The evidence continues to mount that he is far from smart so far, in fact, that he may not be capable of carrying out his duties as president.

Or the story of how, after arriving in Israel from Saudi Arabia, Trump told his hosts, We just got back from the Middle East.

But if an intelligent observer points how excessively and regularly Trump lies , Trumpanzees will instantly jump into deflection mode But what about Hillary Clinton when, or What about Obama’s promise of

First, those tired deflections are just empty exercises in false equivalency. Dont believe me? Google the terms, List of lies by President Obama, or Hillary Clinton. In fact, I invite you to find the most conservative of websites to try this with. Search all youd like you wont find a compiled list of lies, half-truths, or delusional statements anywhere near as long as those others have compiled of Trumps lies .

For Trumpers, the reality of his eerily preternatural ability to lie is usually ignored, excused, or simply explained away by his cult-following in lieu, of all the grandiose promises he made during his campaign up to the election . . . and his legislative successes hes accomplished since taking office. Paradoxically, this mindset of rabid Trump supporters has a sense of warped logic to it because in many cases, ludicrous levels of dissonance and twisted logic is the only way for these misguided people can fall back on in defending Trump.

And, that, dear people, is the epitome of what a cult is.

Lawmakers Find Their Work Becoming ‘very Personal’ And Toxic

Win or lose in eight days’ time, President Donald Trump’s lasting legacy on the Republican Party will be a shrinking base that looks less and less like the country.

The number of voting-age white Americans without college degrees has dropped by more than five million in the past four years. In the same timeframe, the number of minority voters and college-educated white voters has increased by more than 13 million.

Why Are Trumps Supporters So So Stupid

Seriously.

What is WRONG with those people who still support a lying asshole like Trump?

He LIED to them, like he LIED to all of us, but especially to them. They are really STUPID!

Those people who support Trump are really even STUPIDER than those people who refuse to take the Covid Vaccination, and instead prefer to take Hydroxychloroquine, even though they know that Trump was LYING to them about how that protected him, because IT DIDNT. He got Covid-19 and had to be choppered to Walter Reed to be saved from it.

Now he says that we should all take the vaccine, because he did. HE DID! Melania DID. Even Trumps lover, Hope Hicks, probably took the vaccination, but they didnt need to. According to the media they all came down with Covid-19 at about the same time, and they all survived. Only The Dipshit Donald got to go to Walter Reed in order to survive. The women were left home to suffer through it. Thats the way Donald J. Trump does it. FUCK THE REST OF THEM, just make sure The Donald gets the goods.

So take your hydroxy-bullshit. Trump doesnt care. At least he doesnt care about YOU or anyone else but himself.

You even take your Horse-De-Wormer orally, even though its supposed to be given anally. It wont work. Youll still get the Covid if it reaches you. You are such a dumbass! Donald J. Trump doesnt care. He just wants your vote and your money! Thats all. You are stupid, uneducated, and worthless as far as he is concerned.

Thats really all there is to it.

Research Suggests That The President Is More Intuitive Than Analytical

Kurt Andersen: Trump ‘Shamelessly Stupid’ For Believing In Reinstatement

As Democrats gear up to take on Donald Trump in the 2020 election, the party should be thinking about the qualities that make him so popular with many Americans. While liberal pundits remain baffled by the president’s following, studies from the field of psychology continue to shed light on the phenomenon.

A study published in the journal Translational Issues in Psychological Science suggests that Donald Trump stands out amongst other politicians, including fellow Republicans and past presidents, as being exceptionally low in “analytic thinking.” By using intelligent text analysis software to interpret language data from speeches, debates, and written documents, the researchers estimated the point where Trump falls on an analytic-narrative continuum. This finding raises the interesting question of whether a low-analytic thinking style could be contributing to the president’s popularity.

The analytic-narrative continuum provides a way to objectively measure someones thinking style and whether it’s analytic, which is characterized by careful deliberation based on logic and reason, or narrative, which is characterized by more gut reactions grounded in intuition and personal experience. While an analytic thinking style is evidence-driven and statistical, rather than anecdotal and emotion-based like narrative thinkingthere is no doubt that the latter resonates with many people.

Here Are The Top 10 Stupidest Things Trump Did As President

We’re tentatively starting to emerge from the four year-long national nightmare of Donald Trump’s presidency, but the reckoning of what the nation endured will take years to really understand. Trump was terrible in so many ways that it’s hard to catalog them all: His sociopathic lack of regard for others. His towering narcissism. His utter ease with lying. His cruelty and sadism. The glee he took in cheating and stomping on anything good and decent. His misogyny and racism. His love of encouraging violence, only equaled by his personal cowardice.

But of all the repulsive character traits in a man so wholly lacking in any redeemable qualities, perhaps the most perplexing to his opponents was Trump’s incredible stupidity. On one hand, it was maddening that a man so painfully dumb, a man who clearly could barely read even on those rare occasions when he deigned to wear glasses still had the low cunning necessary to take over the Republican Party and then the White House.

On the other hand, it was the one aspect of Trump’s personality that kept hope alive. Surely a man so stupid, his opponents believed, will one day blunder so badly he can’t be saved, even by his most powerful sycophants. That has proved to be the case as Trump fumbles his way through a failed coup, unable and unwilling to see that stealing the election from Joe Biden is a lost cause.

He then pointed at his head, and said, “I’m, like, a person who has a good you-know-what.”

How Rational Ignorance Shapes Our Politics

To understand why so many voted to re-elect Trump after four years of historic political turmoil featuring a failed pandemic response, a devastating economic shock and a crisis in racial justice its necessary to understand the forces that propelled him to victory in 2016.

In recent publications, Berkeley scholars have suggested that Trump won with an unconventional coalition of white working class and middle-class Americans who were motivated by resentment: The culture and economy gave them no recognition and no respect for their work. Their industries were changing, their jobs were shifting overseas or lost to automation. They perceive that Black, Latinx and Asian people, and immigrants, are advancing at their expense.

Trump supporters massed for a rally in Washington, D.C., days after Democrat Joe Biden emerged as the winner of the U.S. presidential race.

But some Berkeley scholars suggested that for many voters, support for Trump or any leader is a more passive choice that takes shape in a subrational sphere.

Gabriel Lenz, an expert in political psychology, is the author of Follow the Leader? How Voters Respond to Politicians Performance and Policies . He sees political opinion shaped by a force that is almost prosaic: an apathetic lack of awareness.

Lenz and other political scientists call it rational ignorance.
