In an interview with InStyle, NBC News Hallie Jackson opens up to Rainesford Stauffer about mental health and burnout in her new show.
Hallie Jackson NOW on the streaming service NBC News NOW is finally up and running. The daily show was supposed to debut Monday but was pushed back to Wednesday because Jackson was out sick.
Stauffer wrote about Jacksons show and how it hit home for Jackson: In the segment on mental health and burnout, parts of the sessions Jackson participated in were too personal for the show to air.
Jackson told Stauffer, I come out of one of these sessions and my face is streaked with tears and my producer is like, Oh my god, are you OK?
Stauffer wrote, In that moment, she reevaluated her role, telling herself OK, let me not be a journalist for this hour. Im going to be like a participant here. She reiterates that its uncomfortable, despite a retreat leaders private reassurance that if she can bring her authentic self to the space, her journalism would be better as it related to the topic. I thought that was really powerful because I am not somebody who ever really feels OK connecting my personal life to my journalistic life, Jackson adds.
Jackson went on to tell Stauffer, My own sort of mental health issues predated the pandemic. She said the network was supportive, but I felt really ashamed of talking about it. I still do.

Sure, its easy to dismiss the likes of a pillow guy and Rudy Giuliani as crackpots pushing goofball conspiracy theories about faulty voting machines and stuffed ballot boxes and dead people voting. But when legitimate news outlets question or amplify the baseless possibilities of unfair elections, the damage is incalculable.
Thats why its a tad frustrating to now hear Rupert Murdoch the executive chairman of News Corp. who oversees outlets such as Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post saying its time for Trump to let go of the past.
Its not that Murdoch is wrong. In fact, hes right. It just would have been nice if Murdoch made a big deal about this in November 2020 instead of November 2021.
Wait, wasnt it less than a month ago when The Wall Street Journals opinion section once again claiming the election was rigged?
And isnt Fox News being sued by Dominion Voting Systems for things said on the air?

Trump Launches New ‘communications’ Platform
Donald Trump has launched a new “communications” website, which says it will publish content “straight from the desk” of the former US president.
Mr Trump was banned by Twitter and suspended by Facebook and YouTube after the Capitol riots in January.
The former president has since been releasing statements by press release – which the new website will now host.
Users will be able to like posts – and also share them on Twitter and Facebook accounts.
“It is a blog,” Kara Swisher, technology columnist for the New York Times told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. “I was like ‘2002 is calling and it wants its blog back…’
“I don’t know what the overall plan is because he does have some very sharp digital advisers. It is just the beginning of his attempts to try to re-establish a louder ability to participate in digital media.”
Mr Trump’s senior adviser, Jason Miller, had previously said a new social media platform was to be launched. “This new platform is going to be big,” he said in March.
But Mr Miller tweeted on Tuesday that the new website was not the social media platform he had previously hyped.
“We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future,” he said.
The website is reportedly built by Campaign Nucleus, a digital services company created by Mr Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale.
Several posts on the site repeat debunked claims that last year’s presidential election was rigged.

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday teased a possible 2024 presidential bid in a Thanksgiving message.
In a statement shared by Trumps spokeswoman Liz Harrington, the former president fueled speculation that he is planning to run again for the presidential seat in the 2024 election, weeks after he said he would probably wait until after the 2022 midterm elections to make an official decision.
“A very interesting time in our Country, but do not worry, we will be great againand we will all do it together, Trump said in a statement, which played off his campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.
America will never fail, and we will never allow it to go in the wrong direction… enjoy your Thanksgiving knowing that a wonderful future lies ahead,” he added.
A separate Thanksgiving email from the fundraising department of the Save America PAC attributed to Trump slammed President Joe Biden for the countrys soaring inflation rate. It is unclear whether the former president played a role in writing or reviewing the PACs email blast.
When Trump left office in January, he had low approval ratings following the chaotic riot at the Capitol. However, his approval ratings began ticking up in recent months.

Sean Hannity Corrects Donald Trump Live On Air Over Durham Report
Fox News host Sean Hannity corrected former President Donald Trump live on air on Tuesday during their discussion of a special counsel investigation into the FBI‘s Russia probe.
Trump was referring to John Durham, who was appointed during his administration to investigate the bureau’s probe into alleged ties between the former president’s 2016 campaign and Russia.
The former president and his allies have expressed strong support for Durham’s work and criticized the initial FBI investigation, arguing that it was politically motivated and tainted by its reliance on the controversial Steele dossier.
During the interview on Tuesday, Trump told Hannnity: “The Durham reportyou know, it’s come out. It could have been a little earlier but it’s unbelievably completed. I would imagine”
Hannity jumped in to say: “It’s not even out yet, though.”
The two men then spoke over each other, with Hannity mentioning the Steele dossier and Trump referring to “the foundations” of Durham’s report.
Durham has not issued a report on his work yet and the investigation is ongoing.
On November 4, Igor Danchenko, a Russian analyst, was arrested and indicted by a grand jury on five counts of making false statements to FBI agents in interviews in 2017.
Danchenko was a researcher for the Steele dossier, which the FBI used as the basis for an application for a warrant to tap the phone of Carter Page, a former Trump campaign adviser, in 2016.

Twitter may be maintaining its ban on Donald Trump, but the former president is finding other ways to get his message out.
The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday published a lengthy letter to the editor from Trump charging, inaccurately, that the 2020 presidential election won by Joe Biden was rigged.
The nearly 600-word letter is replete with loosely sourced and largely debunked claims of fraud in Pennsylvania, a state that President Biden won by 81,660 votes, handing him 20 electoral college votes that helped secure his victory.
Trump took issue with an Oct. 24 piece from the Journals reliably conservative editorial board, which argued that the statewide margin between Trump and Biden was too vast for a debate over the status of approximately 10,000 mail-in ballots that arrived after the Election Day deadline to be germane to the outcome. The country is lucky the election wasnt closer, the board wrote. If the election had hung on a few thousand Pennsylvanians, the outcome might have been picked by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Well actually, the election was rigged, which you, unfortunately, still havent figured out, Trump retorted baselessly in his letter, before listing a few examples of how determinative the voter fraud in Pennsylvania was. Trump cited talking points from Audit the Vote PA, a little-known organization that has promoted unsubstantiated claims of election fraud, which he described as highly respected.
